I have been experiencing swelling and severe pain in my joints for over two months. My first appointment with this Doctor was very uncomfortable. I haven't been to a doctor for 12 years probably because my pediatrician was so creepy. Doctors offices make me very anxious. The secretary was hasty and acted as if I was imposing on her when I asked about my medical condition or how information would be sent to a specialist and when I asked if I could have a cup of water ("One thing at a time mam"). I will admit she was prompt at receiving my payment. I thought it was odd that I did not have to fill any paper work out about my medical history.I'm a 30 year old woman with massively swollen knees, swelling in my wrist and mid finger, aches, pains, restlessness, burning sensations in legs and feet, and insomnia.Upon meeting me he didn't even shake my hand! I tried to tell him of my symptoms but I had an overall feeling of being rushed. There were other things that I would have liked to… discuss (such as anxiety and depression) I didn't recieve any information. Just a perscription for what I had already been taking (with out good results) and advised to get blood drawn. After blood was drawn I went back for my second appointment. That is when the secreatary gave me the paper work that I was supposed to have intially filled out. I don't understand how some one in that field can remember to take my insurance card and payment information but forget to get the information about me. My health should be priority. My appointment was set for 11 but the doctor did not arrive until 11:30. While waiting I overheard the Doctor and Secretary having a conversation about Whitney Houston. "Who Cares? She was just a drug addict." His opinion on addiction may be why he prescribed me ibuprofen for the pain, after I told him that I had been taking that for 3 weeks with out good results. I'm scared, in a lot of pain, tears streaming down my face with a physician that is avoiding eye contact and a longer conversation. I was advised that there is some thing "wrong" with my blood. I either have a major infection or a disease (almost as if he was discussing the weather). Now I am more scared. And I still have no idea what is going on. The next day the rheumatologist said I may have lupus. Well I guess that I will have to find a new doctor because he doesn't treat those with a chronic illness. So I guess that is one good thing.
