Dr. Serguei Melnitchouk, MD

I could not have been more pleased with Dr. Melnitchouk’s care. He explained everything very well and did a wonderful job repairing my mitral valve. He also personally checked on my recovery each day I was in the hospital. My mini-sternotomy scar is better than I could have expected. Dr. Melnitchouk is a huge credit to MGH, and I am most grateful that he was my surgeon.

I first met Dr. Melnitchouck after being diagnosed with a positive nuclear stress test. Although he was the last person I wanted to meet at the time he was a saint God sent to me. One evening while trying to digest what was happening to me in walked a man who had a calming affect. He explained what I need to have done if I wanted to live a normal life again. Dr. Melnitchouck explained in detail how long it would take for the blockages to be repaired and the replacement of the aortic valve. I immediately felt that I had the consummate professional on my side. Now 8 months after the surgery I am enjoying life to the fullest. I exercise daily and walk about 6 miles each day. I owe my life to this great man who I believe is the best heart surgeon in the area.

I had open heart surgery with Dr. Melnitchouk in August (2017). My experience with Dr.M and MGH was superior. He was very professional and personal both before and after the surgery. He explained exactly what would be done during this 7 hour procedure and certainly made this experience much easier. I would certainly recommend him to anyone who has heart valve issues. I can't thank you enough Dr. Melnitchouk!

Dr. Melnitchouk is an excellent surgeon. He explains what needs to be done so that it is easily understood. He remembers and cares about your concerns. I would add an extra star if I could. (69 yr. old woman, minimally invasive MVR)

I am very impressed with the way Dr Melnitchouk handles himself. He was quite articulate about the work he had to do for my mitral valve and described exactly how he intended to operate. He answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable for my upcoming surgery.
