Dr. Seth Stuart Charatz, DO

I've seen him for 5 years. The group in this office is amazing. Dr Charatz is a very knowledgeable, helpful doctor. He is to the point, which i like. He does not waste anyone's time when discussing plans or diagnois. He REALLY takes what you have to say or what you think into consideration. The only thing I can see others having issues with is he can seem dismissive with his busy schedule. He is VERY to the point with his patients. I personally love it, being busy myself. If you are someone who likes to chit chat with your provider, he is not the doctor for you.

I've read a few negative reviews about Dr charatz, and dinner I had an appointment already set up to see him I told my Dr that the reviews concerned me, what was his opinion? He explained dr charatz is very good, knowledgeable and intelligent in the field of endocronology, BUT he is not chatty. So what I took from my dr was that Charatz is top notch for the field in treatment and diagnosis, he is just very straight forward. So what I found was exactly what my primary care told me-very direct and to the point. In fact his depth of knowledge, and his ability to quickly make his diagnosis on past records, looking me up and down for physical symptoms common with endocrine diseases and quivkly yet thoroughly giving me his analysis was computer like. I think he has an excellent understanding of the endocrine system which is his appointments seem so short. Mine was short but he picked up on the fact i was starting to develope depygmentation from Addisons on my skin, and better yet his… determination was that my Addisons was auto immune in nature and required further analysis from a rheumatologist; and again in that 15 min apt another discovery that was right on. It was like sitting at a computer that could look at you and then diagnose multiple illness' without spending the entire time talking. I did ask many questions which he answered and better helped me understand my disease, and when I asked him if I could call with questions in the future, he said "sure, anytime". So my take is that this guy knows his field of study well, and has a genius knack for picking up on details. Besides I like short dr. Appointments, who wants to hang around the Dr's office if you can get your problem solved in 10 minutes of talking, while he observes, and saves everyone time. You go dr. Charatz

He is the worst MD I have ever encountered. He has no compassion for his patients. He doesn't listen to the patient and our concerns. He has no bedside manner, all he does is stare at his computer and tell you everything is fine because of the blood work. He doesn't follow up with results I'm still trying to figure out how and why is he still practicing .

He did not care about my issue, did not spend enough time with me and wiped his hands clean of me by telling me I can go to an endocrine center in a bigger city like Boston or NYC. What a terrible thing to tell a patient. I wasted my time and money, don't do the same.

After reading some of the other reviews I'm glad I'm not the only person who wasn't happy with the care I have received from Dr. Charatz. For my last visit I drove an hour to see him stare at his computer screen for maybe five minutes. He is vey short in answering all of y questions, had no concern for my not feeling well and when I asked about being tested for hosimotos he only said that most people with hypothyroid have it. Also my kids and husband were with me and he didn't even say a word to them. He has horrible people skills and doesn't seem to be interested in being a doctor. In the past he has checked my neck and for shaking fingers. Like I said he hardly even looked at me, let alone touched me. Ive already requested a new doctor.

He seems nice enough, yet dismissive at the same time. Doesn't spend a whole lot of time with his patients and seems to get you in and out as quick as he can (which, they probably do see lots of people, but still) and he often answers questions with "I don't know" and likes to wait too long between periods for follow ups when you're not particularly feeling well. I enjoy his CNP more, he spends time with you (and I see him more often) and actually listens to your concerns. Dr. Charatz isn't a bad guy, but I feel like he needs to take a lesson from his CNP on listening to the patient and their concerns and symptoms instead of glancing at the lab sheet and shrugging if you still don't feel well. The office staff there seems friendly, but playing phone tag with them can be a hassle sometimes and they often forget to notify the doctor or nurse about anything if you call and ask. If you're a patient, your best bet is to sign up for that mycare portal to ask questions/request refills.

Doean't seem to listen or care. When asking questions about condition & medication, his response has been "I don't know - could be". Told me I had to contact surgeon, he didn't have time. I am going to find a new Endocrinologist!

I had met Dr. Charatz once in person. He was very quick with me and only ordered blood work for my thyroid and swollen neck. Once the results came back as normal, he never contacted me as promised and I had to hear over the phone my blood work was too normal from a nurse. Then I was in the ER a few weeks later. He still refused I had a problem strictly due to numbers from my blood work, again heard from only his nurse and not from him. They said they could no longer help me and denied any thyroid problem. I have enlarged nodules on my thyroid and will have an ultrasound, but I will have to find better follow-up care for my condition.

Direct and answered all my questions and concerns. Also got me on a medication regimine for my diabetes that worked which no one else had been able to do. I am very pleased to be treated by him and the quality of care you get at his facility.

I had routine blood work done and found that my Glucose levels were high and that I had diabetes. However, no one could tell me if it was type 1 or type 2. Immediately upon seeing Dr. Charatz he was able to diagnose me with Type 1 without hesitation. He also changed the Insulin my PCP had me on until I could get into see him (about 2 months) and I no longer had low sugar episodes during the middle of the night. I would recommend this practice and Dr. Charatz to anyone in need of an accurate diagnosis, a clean and friendly office and more importantly, accurate treatment.
