Seth Rakoff-Nahoum, MD, PhD

Dr. Seth Rakoff-Nahoum, MD, PhD, is a senior associate physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Boston Children’s Hospital and an associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He specializes in pediatric infectious diseases, microbiome science, immunology, and host-microbe interactions, with a clinical focus on caring for immunocompromised pediatric patients. Dr. Rakoff-Nahoum earned his medical and doctoral degrees in immunobiology from Yale University and completed his pediatrics residency and pediatric infectious diseases fellowship through the Boston Combined Residency Program and Boston Children’s Hospital. Internationally recognized for his groundbreaking research on the gut microbiome, innate immunity, and microbial ecology, he leads the Rakoff-Nahoum Lab, where his work explores how microbial communities influence human health, immunity, and disease.
