Dr. Sevak Stepanian, MD

Dr. Stepanian did his due diligence today and saved my father’s life. He was thorough, caring and compassionate.

I was very disappointed with his bed side manner. I was at the Miriam Hospital for a surgery, and dr Stepanian came to introduce himself as my anesthesiologist and asked me about my medical history. Once I disclosed to him about my breast cancer history, he seemed shocked, and made reference that, this is 2016 and we're still dealing with breast cancer. But the worst was when he said that he's 38 years old and he's high school friend died 5 years ago of "Breast Cancer". I became very distressed with the conversation. Him and the nurse attending me just kept talking about the issue as if I was not there. And the nurse responded, "well wait until you're my age." Here I am sitting there about to go into my 3rd surgery in one year, and trying to think positive about my battle with cancer last year. The doctor reminds me that, I could die too. I guess I am still too sensitive to the subject, and wasn't expecting that he would be so abrumpt to disclose about his friend's death to a patient… that just went through the experience.
