Dr. Seyed Ali Mostoufi, MD

Dr. Mostoufi came highly recommended. He spent very little time speaking with me and barely examined me. Felt like he disregarded me and my pain. He recommended I see a doctor in my area. That doctor is no longer seeing patients and I have contacted Dr. Mostoufi's office 4 times with no response. I would not recommend this doctor.

Dr. Mostoufi has a great bedside manner. He truly cares about his patients. I have been seeing Dr. Mostoufi for several years and I find him to be an excellent Doctor.

Dr. Mostoufi is a great doctor and has improved my well being.

Dr.Mostoufi did diagnose me correctly with 2 herniated discs in my lower spine. When I first meet him I thought he was nice and cared about me and how I was doing. He suggested injections which I did agree to do, why go to a doctor in BIDMC and have to go to Cambridge to get the injections. After 2 injections did not help me get the results I needed to function normally, Dr.Mostoufi attitude changed when I started to question why I was not getting better. He said finish PT and give it time, you don't want to have surgery. At the point he told me " Call me if you run into trouble again". I was still in pain and still having , weakness and numbness . A few days later I called his office and to ask a question and it took his office 3 days to get back to me. At that point I had already called another Boston Hospital to get a second opinion, which lead to surgery. I do agree with one of the other reviews on this site. His caring attitude seems like a act until your body does not react… to his very expensive injections. Also how can a doctor treat you in his office at BIDMC and barely touch you, how does he know how bad the weakness is if he is not testing it?

I was referred to BIDMC spine center for ongoing low back pain. He was very friendly initially and spent time going through my MRI. He then recommended a series of injections which had to be done in his office in Cambridge. I did two injections with only minor improvement. Once I started doubting the use of more injections, he suddenly became very abrupt and would not discuss further treatments. This made me think that his friendliness was an act to get me to sign up for injections so that he can bill my insurance $$$.

My PCP referred me to the Spine Center at BIDMC after 3 months of back pain and PT. I'm not going to lie and say I was not scared going to a spine doctor, I'm a 35 yr old female. When Dr. Mostoufi came into the room I was put at ease. He was smiling and introduced himself to me and looked at my x ray while I continued to fill out paperwork. He asked me a few questions tested the strengthen in my leg and said " you need a MRI". I was able to get a MRI very quickly that week, made a follow up to see him the follow week to review what was found. He actually called me the week of my follow up to say " no need to come in its back and white on your MRI you need a injection very soon" . I had 2 injections and went back to see him as a follow up after the second on, he asked how I was feeling and I told him better but still not 100% he told me " I can not repeat the procedure again, said to continue with PT for 4 weeks and if it did not get better call and see him " and stood up to walk out of… the room I said I have a few questions which he did answer and then said " if you run Into trouble come back" turned around and walked out of the room. I'm still having back pain, tingling and some numbness in my leg. I called him the same week I saw him for my last visit because I was having new symptoms and left a message with his office assistant who told me " someone will call you back later" I had to call them back which she told me " the Doctor is not in the office today he will call you back Monday " ! When I first saw Dr. Mostoufi I really liked him he had a great bedside manor and seemed caring , I think when injections fail he can't treat you anymore and " hopes" you feel better soon. I
