Dr. Seymour Baxter, MD

I was diagnosed with Adult ADHD in the mid 90s. I was fortunate to have met Dr. SEYMOUR BAXTER shortly after. , who was the residing psychiatrist in the Rehab skilled LTC center where I worked as an RN. I began seeing Dr Baxter in his office , continued for umpteen years, and continued to see him,in his office at his home. Dr Baxtrr actively listened to his pts concerns and provided therapeutic techniques as well as medication scripts to his patients. Dr Baxter was extremely knowledgeable reg psychiatric disorders and ADHD( in part because he too openly admitted to having ADD. He held seminars in local auditorium, taught in universities, and wrote articles in medical journals. In addition, he kept up on all the findings, modalities, and treatments on psych disorders and ADHD. He also spoke multiple languages(7?) which he attributed to listening to his father! Above all this, Dr Baxter openly and actively listened to his pt concerns and expressed empathy and encouragement. He… always found time to see his pts,even if his schedule was full! I had the privilege and honor to know Dr Baxter and proud to say not only was he my psych Dr, I wss proud to call him my friend, which he also said. I was saddened to learn he had passed away. He was a great Dr and humanitarian

I had a long-term patient-psychiatrist relationship with Dr. Baxter during a stubborn illness. I found him to be committed and empathetic. His knowlededge in not only psychiatry but also medicine is impressive.

Scatterbrained and rude, completely unprofessional. Rushed me in and out of his office. Could never remember what we discussed at last appointment. Said a few times "maybe you're bipolar, we'll discuss that next time" but never did. Had I been bipolar, wouldn't it be a priority for my MD to treat it? Often kept waiting an hour for him when I had an appointment. I don't even know why he is still practicing medicine.
