Dr. Shaanta Arya Hanagud, MD

Dr Hanagud is awesome. I’m very active and often times have small nagging pains. She listens and makes great recommendations.

During our consult, Dr Hanagud proceeded to take out her cell phone and mess with it. I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she was doing a calculation for my chart or something but later when I found out she had input my medication dosage as half of what it has been for over 20 years, I started to feel like she simply did not listen to anything I said. This was further confirmed when I went to schedule my surgery -- which was the reason I had a consult with her to begin with -- and was informed she only approved a 20 minute outpatient session with the surgeon which, had she listened to anything I had said during our consult, I already had completed. I have never submitted a formal complaint about anyone or any company but this doctor caused so much undue stress and unnecessary redundancy that I felt it was necessary. Maybe she is a caring doctor. Maybe she does listen. Maybe she was having a bad day. The treatment I experienced, however, was nothing short of dismissive and… uncaring.

My mother was under the care of this Dr. She was referered to physical therapy for swelling and pain in her arm by this Dr. which was later determined by doctors at another hospital to be blood clots. Also she was given asthma inhalers for asthma when it was found at the other hospital to be more serious COPD Mom passed away in the hospital. I have lost all hope in doctors. This is just puzzling wish to speak with this Dr. dont understand.

This primary care doc, bar none, is the best that I've ever had or worked with (I'm in the medical field). While incredibly intelligent and up to speed on all the latest clinical research, her calm presence and genuine caring nature makes her stand head and shoulders above her peers. She also has a keen interest in, and thorough knowledge of, holistic approaches to preventative and therapeutic medicine and healthy living. And, believe me, she stays on top of the research behind such approaches as well to ensure that there aren't contraindications with medications, exercise, and so on. What else can I say other than she should be cloned! It's so unfortunate that there are more primary care docs like her. Now, if Kaiser would raise the bar on similar aspects of patient care and service provision! Getting timely appointments with your physicians continues to be an ongoing problem (I've been a KP patient in GA for 15 years). More providers, staff, and medical centers are needed, and those… that do exist need to have X-ray and minimal lab capacity. Sadly I have forgone getting an X-ray and/or lab test more than once to avoid rush hour traffic to outside of the perimeter medical centers. Nuff said!

She was the first doctor to listen to me and get to the root of the problems I've been having for 5+ years. Great bedside manner, very attentive, very smart, very whole-body in her approach. Awesome doctor.
