Dr Shady Eldaif, MD

I just had my right upper lobe removed for a cancerous nodule 5 days ago. I think Dr. Eldaif did a great job and he seemed compassionate and extremely competent. In my limited contact with him I thought he had a lovely bedside manner. He was very kind and caring. Unfortunately I can't say the same for his PAs Nathan and Jessica. It took a couple of days post op complaining about intense pain involving my chest tube until my pain became manageable so that I could do the things I needed to do to aid my recovery. I was finally able to breathe deeply and ambulate better when the medications were put together. Right now I'm one day away from having the chest tube removed and suddenly, without even telling me, Jessica decreased and discontinued some of my pain meds. I didn't find this out until I was in pain and needing relief this evening. Nathan was on call as it was the nighttime and he adamantly refused to reorder the one medication that I was getting the most relief from. He stated it… could put me into kidney failure. Really???!!! He refused to order one more dose until the morning when I could address this issue with someone who cared and would help me. But worse than that he was rude and condescending. He clearly wasn't going to help me. Everyone from nurses and therapist have been telling me how much better I'll feel when the chest tube is removed which will most likely be tomorrow. Maybe only 12 hours away. I just wanted one dose to get me through the night. He clearly has no compassion for a suffering patient and is not doing Dr. Eldaif's practice any justice. Jessica performed an excruciating procedure on me yesterday and also showed me zero compassion when I was crying in pain. She was cold and uncaring when I just couldn't take it anymore. Perhaps she didn't do it right. I have no way of knowing as I'm told it's painful to have this done. But I was in so much pain from that and everything I'd been through the last 5 days.She then left the room without discussing anything with me. A nice touch would have been to check back on me later. This was 3:45 in the afternoon which left some time to do that before her day was done. The office staff for my pre surgical appointment were very nice and assured me I would be well taken care of. Well, this didn't feel well taken care of. All it did was upset and aggravate me which probably made my pain even worse. I would give a zero star rating but I think Dr. Eldaif is a good surgeon but I would never recommend him or use him again. Fortunately, he removed my cancer so I shouldn't need any future surgery. I've worked in the health care profession for 48 years and I know immediately when certain health care professionals shouldn't be caring for sick and scared patients. And these two should definitely think about a different career path.

he told me very little about the after affects of lung cancer surgery. thanks to his incompetence i suffer with pain every day of my life. i would advise anyone looking for a surgeon to keep looking. if i could afford an attorney i'd sue him. i am scarred and will live with pain for the rest of my life.

This surgeon saved my life! He worked immediately to perform an emergency surgery on me. I was a high risk patient with many complications. He did not even flinch at the challenge. My surgery went well, and the incision has healed beautifully. He has great bed side manner which is hard to find with many doctors. Dr. Eldaif put my mind at ease about the whole process, and did not rush me with any questions I had. Thank you for all of your hard work Doc! I would recommend him to any family and friends!

He told me what was going to have to be done and the time it was going to take to do the surgery along with the length of my stay in the hospital. That's what I call awesome!! Cause, I live in Griffin, GA and had to go to my aunt's the night before to be closer to the hospital for my surgery. That's a 2 hours drive and I felt fine to travel home. This doctor is the best and I'm so glad that my family doctor referred me to use Dr. Shady Eldaif.
