Dr. Shah Nawaz, MD

Dr. Nawaz is willing to hear and understand the complexities of each individual patient's case. I highly recommend him as a doctor and recommends his practice and general as they are extremely ethical, friendly, and professional. I am not entirely sure but I do know that most doctors who work in miss practice or addiction medicine specialized or in training for addiction medicine. If you have an opioid dependency problem I suggest you contact this office after a rehabilitation program.

someone had commented on how much he charges. Well $300 for the first visit and $100 after that is the standard charge. Your reviews should be based upon how much he has or has not helped you. Personally I find him to be a great doctor and have been a patient of his for many years. I am doing very well with his help. He is very smart respectfull and easy to talk with but people please do not base your rev iews on money issues that is just not fair to him.

Sadly, he is like most other psychiatrists I've worked with. Very cut and dry, doesn't explain what's going on and why certain meds will and will not work. He's just the typical..."I'm the doctor, do what I say. Take these pills and we'll see you next time". Of course when they don't work, or create new side effects, it's then the typical...you have to give it time. Then when you do, and they persist, I was literally told "just ignore them" That's like putting a band aid on an amputation and being told to just ignore the pain and blood gushing everywhere. So of course the next step is, well let's increase the dose. Which then makes things even worse. A good doctor would start wondering what's going on here and dig deeper. But not him.

I agree with one of the other reviewers that it is positively sinful to charge exhorbitant fees and not take any kind of insurance. The first visit (which lasted less than 15 minutes!) was $225. The subsequent visit (one week laters) was $125 and now I am paying $125 every other week.

Do not let the secret out, he is the best in the area,hands down, wouold recommend him to anyone who is looking for a well knowledged Doctor.

I have to say I am very disappointed not just with this doctor but all of them for not excepting CT insurance. I mean come on most of us addicts have nothing left once we finally get sober and then we have to pay through the nose to try to do the right thing. I think that the state should make it mandatory for all doctors who prescribe suboxone to except the insurance. There is nothing worse then just getting clean and trying to get back on your feet and then you are getting hammered by the greedy doctors. I could see 50 dollars a month but come on I got off the phone with one of these guys and he wanted 300 for the first visit and a hundred after that but he wanted me there every week in the beginning so this is nothing personal to this specific doctor but to all of you who think just because we spent 400 dollars a day on our habits that we should be able to pay that to you every month. We got that money by stealing, telling lies and hustling people. Due you really want us in your… office if we are in the stealing and hustling mind frame.I know for me I can't do that if I want to stay sober because that was a big part of the using! Sorry I didn't mean to take it out on your site but it needed to be said!!!
