Dr. Shahan Vahe Yacoubian, MD

Dr. Shahan V. Yacoubian did my left hip replacement surgery in September 2022 and my right hip replacemnt in January of 2023. I feel like a new man now. I was in so much pain that I could barely walk around my house. I was afraid of having to be in a wheelchair. Now I have no pain and am able to walk 2 miles comfortably after only six weeks since surgery. Dr Shahan and the OSS office staff have been professional and caring. Dr. Shahan even called my wife right after both surgeries to let her know the results. My wife was very impressed by this kind behavior. I am very grateful to Dr. Shahan for giving me a new lease on life.

I went through three doctors, three misdiagnosis, and four months of pain and inconvenience until I met Dr. Shahan Yacoubian. He gets my highest recommendation. I wound up with a partial knee reconstruction and three months later I was completely recovered with a full range of motion. Before the operation, I asked Dr. Yacoubian whether he was going to do a partial or full reconstruction and he said, "I am going to have to go in and look. I do whatever is in the best interest of the patient." I definitely have the feeling that is what he always does. If you want to save yourself a lot time go directly to Dr. Yacoubian.

Had a severe fracture of the tibia, so severe that it required two operations, one to install an external fixator and a second to set the bone (closed reduction), which required 6 screws and a 12” steel plate. Dr. Yacoubian saw me on short notice and performed both surgeries perfectly. He and his wonderful staff helped me through a long and difficult recovery time. After surgery ignores your concerns. Check your records after a visit. He does not do what is written down. 30 days after second knee done. I could not sit without strong pain from knee. I told him every visit the right knee does not like sitting. Was okay u till day 30 when I walked more. He did nothing checked nothing. Said was my back. His partner misdiagnosed the back. 18 months wasted. Now chronic pain and bone spurs on upper and lower knee caps. So not my back. Turns out bilateral anterior knee pain. He never once asked where the knee pain was. Got second opinion on back. Doctor checks everything, reads MRI. Finally says where is your pain. I said my knee he says where. I said must be my knee caps as I want to get a hammer and smash them. Back doctor says I am 90% sure it is not your back but your knees. Yep my knees. Now bone spurs on upper and lower knee caps both knees. Chronic pain meds have never worked. Not worth it better doctors.

He is an amazing caring and spot on doctor. His staff are also in great communication with the patients. When I had surgery (2 knee replacements) all the surgical staff were knowledgeable, kind and super caring. You could not ask to be in better hands. Laurie

I was referred to Shahan V. Yacoubian, M.D. by a friend after I had experienced an extremely bad left hip replacement surgery by another doctor. After meeting with Dr. Shahan Yacoubian, I had a right hip replacement surgery by him and he paid special attention to my specific issues as a result of the prior bad surgery experience with the other doctor, and this time I had an excellent experience and fast and easy recovery. His staff was always professional and made the experience a pleasure. I cannot say enough to recommend Dr. Yacoubian and his staff as well as St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank for their care and professionalism.

Dr Shahan himself was wonderful. His support and office staff on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired. After I was scheduled for surgery, I received a call asking why I hadn't attended the orientation class. SInce I was never told that there was an orientation class or when it was, I could not have attended, although I wanted more information. When I went back to the office a few years after my surgery worried about an infection, the receptionist told me "that doesn't happen," then the office manager told me I needed to contact my primary and be referred to a knee specialist (I don't need referrals for my insurance). Dr Shahan had been my knee specialist up to that point. These two office staff members decided my medical status with no contact with any health care professional, and dismissed me, refusing to make an appointment.

What an amazing doctor ! He did a total hip replacement on me and I could not be more pleased. His staff was great. Everyone I ran into pre surgery had nothing but great things to say about this doctor with their own experiences. I consider Dr. Yacoubian an exceptional surgeon and wonderful doctor.
