Summary
My Specialty and Why I Chose It
I attended University of California at Davis (UCD) where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry in 1992. After I graduated from UCD, I decided to put my training as a biochemist into practice and I worked as a research chemist for a year before going to medical school.
I studied medicine at Allegheny University (a.k.a. Drexel University) in Philadelphia. After medical school, I decided to pursue a career in family medicine where the focus of care is on treating the patient rather than just a disease process. With that in mind, I returned to California for my residency and completed my training in family medicine at Kaiser Permanente, Fontana. During the three years of my residency, I worked with an exceptionally competent and caring faculty whose valuable teachings have been instrumental in the care I offer to my patients on a daily basis.
Upon completion of my residency training, I joined Kaiser Permanente in southern California …where I worked as a primary care provider for one year. During that time, I became more interested in acute care medicine and made the decision to change my focus of practice to urgent care and inpatient medicine.
Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente
I joined northern California Kaiser Permanente in 2001. My duties are equally split between hospital based inpatient care and the Appointment and Advice Call Center. I truly enjoy the environment where I work. At Kaiser Permanente, I can focus on patient care and do what I think is right for the patient without restrictions from third parties. I work with a group of conscientious and competent colleagues in my area of practice as a Hospital Based Specialist. Consultants from a broad range of specialties are also readily available. I have been a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine since I graduated from my residency program in the year 2000.
On a Personal Note
I like to stay mentally and physically active so that I can continue doing what I love to do for as long as I can. I enjoy biking, running, reading, and practicing playing piano. I love quotes and the following is one of my most favorite sayings by George Washington Carver, a great scientist and an exceptional human being in the early 1900's: "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life, you will have been all of these."

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews
Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.
Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
