Dr. Shailaja Savitri Behara, MD

I have used Dr. Behara in the past and after this procedure, I will NOT use her again. My procedure was at 10:45am, the hospital called and said it was 3:00pm. Then I got a text stating it was 10:30am, so I called the office and was told that they would call me back. I then got an email asking me to check my portal for a message and it said 11:00am. I finally got the call back and he said it was 10:30. I got a call 2 days before procedure and she said that there was a mixup with the insurance and they were working on it. She mentioned a different hospital and I told her that according to my paperwork it was Memorial Herman. She said she would get back to me tomorrow. I ready to cancel the procedure. Guess I’ll be calling them in the morning.

Horrible experience. Call doctor office several times. My family a d I have not received any update or return phone calls from Dr. Behara. This is unacceptable when you are not able to see your love one in the hospital or know exactly what the outcome of the procedure entailed. Our first initial office visit was with her nurse practitioner. We should have been seen by her not a nurse practitioner. Totally disappointed with overall quality of care. We will definitely not recommend her to anyone.

I honestly can't write a review on Dr. Behara because I was not able to make it past her rude office staff. I called to try and schedule an appointment and understood and was okay when I was put on hold. I sat on hold for several minutes and then disconnected. I called back and the rude voice on the line once again asked me to hold, before I could say a word I was put on hold for atleast 5 minutes and then when I finally got assistance from the girl on the phone she was rude and put out by answering questions. I told her to forget it, that I would be scheduling with a different provider.

DR Behara in and of herself was tolerable as were the ladies of the office but when they passed me off to the young man in the office, he spent the whole time flirting with me which really ticks me off! I'm married but chose to come alone, who knew I'd have to worry about being harassed at the Dr's office! I could not believe it! Just so unbelievably unprofessional!!!! I know now that if I ever have to return, either bring my husband and/or pepper spray!! good lord the last thing anyone wants after seeing gastroenterologists is to be hit on by the staff!! I hope he is not there when I unfortunately have to go back! Dr. Behara you need to get rid of this clown!!

I seen this Dr. before for Ulcerative Colitis. This Dr. had put me on Prednisone, then left the country. I was told by the office staff I would have to get myself off the prednisone. Really! This doctor was horrible and I would never go back or recommend to anyone. The experience with this doctor really sucked big time.

I called the answering service starting at 11Am,by 10 P M ,i was more pushy with the answering service who claimed the doctor did not check the calls. After insisting that i needed a call back , i was told her cell was not working. I was not sick enough to go to e.r.,nor did i did i want to spend the night in the ER while i was uncomfortable.having had this issue several times before,i knew my diverticulitis was flaring up , but was not severe yet. i felt i could wait until the next day.all i wanted was an antispasmodic,in fact while waiting for her call i took one that i still had. But of course,she claimed she felt uncomfortable to order anything and told me to come in the Am. I am the one uncomfortable and if she would not have waited almost 12 hours to respond,i would have sought care elsewhere! Don't have an answering service that you ignore! In fact just tell the patients to go to ER so they do not suffer for 12 hours thinking the dr. will call . and then have the pt. try… to seek care at NIGHT!!!!

Dr. herself is OK, though a bit distant and cold. But staff is consistently unfriendly and unhelpful. Had to submit insurance information multiple times because staff could not submit the claim properly. Also, they scheduled a follow-up visit for me without my consent or knowledge. Found out when I received a phone 'reminder' - less than 24hrs before the visit - informing me that if I did not cancel with at least 24hrs notice I would be charged anyway. I'm never going back.

made an appointment, when I arrived I was asked to sign a form stating I would be charged if I failed to give 24 hr notice of cancellation. Things happen and we don't always know 24 hrs ahead if we must cancel. I refused so they wouldn't see me. I found another doctor. They are paid well for their services by our insurance.....this is just more GREED.
