Dr. Shailja Patel, MD

I went to see her a year or two ago and had high hopes for my appt with her, but everything I brought up was brushed off due to my weight. She merely dismissed everything I mentioned and told me to lose weight and come back. I felt fat-shamed and upset and it made me not follow up with her. Felt she saw a weight and not a person. First thing she said to me. I did go back to go over results and she was too busy to see me. I got my records and will not go back.

a minute ago So it's been well over a year since I've been here and im super late on my review but at first years ago I loved this place I found Dr. Patel great but then when my life took a crazy turn and anxiety happened I found myself coming here more than usual not understanding what was going on with me. I was a complete mess and trusted I could come to her. My anxiety caused all kinds of physical aches and pains which I know now but back then I was lost, well the last time I came to her about stomach pains and palpitations she brushed me off what was even worse was I overheard her and nurses talking about right outside the office door my feelings were so hurt I was afraid to leave and walk past these people. I mean they couldn't wait until I leave before making a joke of my situation? Anyways I want her to know that I happened to be pregnant and if she took the time to truly try and help me she would have known that. I lost all respect for her and never came back, I hope this… never happens to anyone else at 1 of the toughest moments in life.
