Dr. Shaker R Dakhil, MD

When I first went to see Dr. Shaker Dakhil I had just be diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I was so scared and he put me at ease by fully explaining about thyroid cancer. Every time I have gone to see him, I felt like I had just seen the Cadillac of doctors. I reallly want him to be the only doctor I see regarding my cancer (that is gone now)

He is excellent and a care giver not just a clinical doctor

Apparently has better things to do, rather than keep his patients up to date or alert them. My mom has been going to him for quite a while and he only seems to take her seriously when someone goes with her to question issues. He recently changed her treatment schedule and despite the fact that she goes in every week for blood tests to keep him up to date, he never notified her or anyone else regarding her fast and steady decline on her white cell count. His response to everything is that she should relax and enjoy her time......which is probably going to be shortened since he doesn't need to worry about elderly patients so much.

I would not recommend CCK. The care is adequate. They do NOT address the dignity of the patient and are more concerned about making the maximum dollars off of each patient. No privacy when giving blood or receiving chemo. No nutritionist. I had to learn about diet and side effects of my treatment from my local pharmacist. No spiritual counseling. I felt like I was in the License Tag Office. Definitely worth thinking about a drive out of town.

Dr. Dahkil will sit down discuss your treatment plan, concerns and any issues. Excellent doctor. Really helped in understanding cancer treatment.

I believe Dr. Dakhil is a competent doctor however he definately needs to work on his bedside manners, time he spends with his patients and needs to reduce the wait times to see him. A 1+ hour wait time is not acceptable especially when you know he doesn't spend much time with his patients. I just feel like a number at CCK and not a patient. I'm considering going to KC or OKC to see a different oncologist because I'm tired of being treated like a number. I get treated more like a human when I take my car in for an oil change.
