Dr. Shakira N Thomas, MD

I awoke with severe pain, chills and vomiting. . .no clue what was wrong. Had to go to Smyrna for a Rapid Covid Test which was negative. I drove to nearest Urgent Care which was Town Park, never been there before. They were packed, but everyone was kind and patient. I checked in at 5pm, checked out at 1:11am. Dr. Thomas and all the nurses, CT scan techs, were very kind. Dr. Thomas, explained all the test results, gave me detailed instructions for continued care, and answered all my questions.

She has absolutely NO bedside manners. She is rude and easily annoyed. I hope to never cross paths with another physician like her again.

I took my son into the ER for severe migraine. He has an extensive hx of variant type migraines. I explained hx to Dr. Thomas and that her was disoriented, slurred speech, blood tinted mucus. He had taken a new pain medication, which I was concerned exacerbated his symptoms. Dr. Thomas wanted to give him typical vasoconstrictor meds. I explained his migraines were opposite and that his vessels constrict and that those meds could cause stroke. She said she was going to give him pain meds. I inquired if it would interact with the meds he had taken 2 hours prior. She then became very perturbed and asked me what I wanted her to do. I answered if I had gone to med school, maybe I could tell her. She then stormed out of the room and sent in the charge nurse, who by the grace of God, had a neuro background and understood what I was talking about. I will never go to the Piedmont Newnan ER again as I do not want to encounter this Physician again.
