Dr. Shalini Reuben, MD

She has been my doctor for several years and conducts very thorough examinations. She is very caring and concerned in addressing all of my needs and answering my questions. The VA is very fortunate to have someone as competent as she is.

Her reviews on different websites I researched over the past two years used to be trending negatively. I'm suspicious of all the five stars I'm seeing now. The high praise reviews may be from people who see her in private practice (not through the VA), are not in need of more than basic health care, her friends or people from her home country, whom I'm sure she respects. Congratulations to all of you! One stars are obviously people who didn't meet that criteria but are still in need of medical professionals who respect the 'Hippocratic Oath.' Reuben demonstrated prejudice against me from the very beginning and the dynamics degenerated to such a degree that by the third consult I had to request a different PCP. I'm a 66 yo disabled veteran. I have empathy for those who gave one stars. I will add that she falsified my medical record with an illness I don't have and wasted resources on that, yet obstructed treatment for a major illness I do have. She was always curt and did not give eye… contact except when defensive, regardless of my attempts to be pleasant. I hate saying bad things about people but I also have an ethical responsibility to warn people who could be harmed. In her defense, I will say that the VA has implemented a 'Primary Care' system that can only fail for the majority of veterans: 1,500 to 1,600+ patients are assigned to each PCP (info told by the PCPs, themselves), and allowed only one 30 minute consult a year; unless you have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, then you may get one 30 minute visit every six months. It must be hellish for the PCPs who are ridiculously busy spending most of their time entering data into their computers. They have no time to give any attention to the patient. Despite this attention/obsession with data entry, my medical records have numerous errors. Reuben said, herself, "It doesn't matter, no one reads what I write, anyway." She's probably correct. My medical records include, literally, thousands of pages amassed over a 10 year period. The doctors cherrypick from them and often can't find what they're looking for, which threatens an effective medical treatment plan. The VA health professionals seem to acquiesce to the madness for their robust salaries and other benefits. It's all so sad.

I have been being seen by her and the Port Richey Fl VA. In eight years they have not been able to diagnose my illness nor get me testing that I have requested. All that ever happens is I get shoved off to the side, given a bottle of ibpurfin, and given another appointment 6 months down the road while I deal with daily pain in the 5 - 10 range on the pain scale.

I have been seeing her for 7 years now and she has my complete confidence.

This doctor is to busy to take good care of her patients. Always adding info to computer, ordering misc test for me at Tampa va , can’t travel that distance but she keeps on doing it anyways, orders meds without discussion! Haven’t been able to complete any one of my health concerns with her. After my appt today4/22/19 you wouldn’t believe me what happened if I told you. I am done with that place, way to much stress going there.

She is absolutely wonderful!!! She really takes an interest in her patients and checks everything to ensure the best overall health for every one of them. She is over cautious and I feel that I am in the best possible hands!!!!

This inturn has canceled prescriptions on me such as insulin without any known reason she has no business in our VA system she has no respect or compassion for US combat veterans

Simply put, Doctor Reuben is the best Doctor that I have ever had in my life. I have suffered from many different problems throughout my lifetime, but no other Doctor(s) could ever find out what was wrong with me. Dr. Reuben was able to make an accurate diagnosis of several key problem areas, one in particular that has changed my life. I owe her a great deal of gratitude for all that she has done for me and my family.

Dr Reuben is a fantastic doctor. I should know, I've had many over the years for various ailments. She is very caring & takes time to explain things that laymen wouldn't understand . I feel she may very possibly saved my life by catching my prostate cancer at a very early stage. I could go on all day about Dr Reuben. I feel very fortunate to have her for my doctor.
