Dr. Shams Sm Tabrez, MD

Such a disappointment. I’m reading here about how people think his bedside manner is so awesome but bottom line,, he’d rather talk chit chat than spend time solving the problem. I’ve had Crohns for 49 years. Yet he kept insisting that I was constipated. We were treating the wrong thing and I ended up in the hospital for two weeks in order to solve the real problem. The office appointments were full of long waits, silly conversation and an insistence on his part that the only drug for me would be Humera. I waited almost 7 months and I never heard from the people who were supposed to approve me. He had excuse after excuse. When I tried to go to someone else I was refused service because he was a friend of Dr Tabreze. ?????? I never heard of this fraternity method. We are leaving the area and have found better Drs for both my husband and myself in Orlando. Bottom line, it’s been a year, I went back to the medication that would NOT HELP ME ACCORDING TO THEM,,,I’m just fine,,,… never did get the sacred HUMERA,, time was wasted, pain was unnecessary and all because of incompetence. Run,,,, screaming away.

I have had Dr Tabrez as my doctor for over ten years. His bedside manner, his willingness to spend as much time as needed with each patient and his patience to explain in laymen's terms what needs to be done, is unsurpassed. I have recommended him to family and friends as someone who could be trusted and looked upon with respect.

The office overbooks Dr. Tabrez's appointments and not only is the wait over an hour, the doctor was 1 1/2 hours late to arrive at the office with no apology or concern for having me wait in an examination room for him. He actually made a joke of it. He scheduled a test for me at the hospital and never followed up with the results. After one month of calling the office, I was told he would return my call within 24 hours. I never heard from him. In order to get the results, I once again telephoned his office and was told I could pick them up within 2 days. I requested a copy faxed to my primary doctor and was given an extra copy and told to give it to my primary physican. His office manager, Linda, was very helpful in securing the test results for me. Unfortunately, there was never a follow up visit and the doctor acted in a very incompetent manner by not discussing the test results. I would not recommend this doctor as somebody who cares about his patients.

My first meeting with Dr. Tabrez was after being admitted through the emergency room of Florida Hospital Celebration for an attack of pancreatitis. My first impression was that he was very brisk and disinterested but once we began discussing my situation he became very forthcoming. His use of drawings and diagrams to explain my condition and course of care was reassuring. (as far as the drawings go Monet and Picasso have nothing to worry about) Dr. Tabrez actually listened to my questions and concerns and took time before answering. He was not condescending or patronizing. During subsequent office visits he maintained the same professionalism.
