after a recent visit that Alams RN KRISTEN failed to schedule an appt that leaded to a violating of my Hipaa Rights as well as almost losing my LTD Policy and like another patient says just trying to get more money and to verify the idea of just handing out more meds obviously evident as the next day Dr SANCHEZ, (ALAMS BOSS) percribs, you guessed it , more pills? when the real problem is the DRs office

I've never met a mental health professional as passive/uncaring about her patients as Dr. Alam. At first, she seemed perfectly pleasant and willing to assist me with my issues/concerns, but I've come to realize that her main objective is making money. For example: I don't have a car which causes scheduling conflicts to arise frequently in reference to making it to my appointments (which Dr. Alam is aware of). So I called her office yesterday to reschedule only to discover that she wouldn't be back in the office before my trip to Houston this week. Naturally, I asked if she would refill my prescription at least until I could see her again (as she's done before for $25) after explaining that I'd be out pills within the next few days (anyone with a mental health issue will attest to the fact that stopping medication abruptly is dangerous). She responded by insisting on a phone consultation for $100 plus the additional $25 to call in the script knowing full well that I can barely afford my… meds as it is. It turns out that she would rather her patients go without the medications they need to function than go without the $125 for the 10 minutes it takes to call in a prescription. As if all of that wasn't enough, she will leave you in the waiting room anywhere from 15-45 minutes and she will not take your requests for a different or an additonal medication seriously. Hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a psyciatrist, period.

This doctor prescribes unnecessary meds, doesn't follow through to verify that proper labs (blood work EKG s if needed etc) are done to check how patient responds. Doesn't regularly check for drug interactions, and increases dosages beyond therapeutic levels. Other doctors end up cleaning up her mess--including correcting her diagnoses. Finally patient records are not delivered in timely fashion--office is a mess. New doctor is beyond frustrated waiting 7 months and 4 requests for records!

After having to wait almost 1.5 hrs for a 5 min appt (where Alam once again wrote scripts for meds before I even spoke) I found a new Dr. She has determined I was Mis-diagnosed and over medicated. Before this I had other Drs wanting to speak directly w Alam and she was never available (to speak to a colleague????) Alam has no interest in her patients, only in collecting $$$. Find someone else!!

I saw Dr. Alam for 1.5 years. She is very methodical and effective, but tends to run late on appointments (avg. 30-45 minutes). It wasn't difficult to get an appointment, although she only sees patients on weekends now, which could be convenient for some. The biggest problem that I had with her is financial. She doesn't take insurance, so you have to pay cash, and it's not cheap: $300 for the first visit, and $100 per follow up visit. She also charges to write refill prescriptions, which may not be covered by insurance. All in all, go somewhere else if you possibly can.

I went to this doctor after finding her on my insurance website. She seemed on on first appointment except I was only in her office for about 7 minutes... on a first appointment. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. She stopped seeing patients during the week and was only available SUNDAY AFTERNOONS for appointments. I never sat on her couch for more than 5 minutes before I was shuffled out. When I told her that I was over 2 weeks late (period) and that I felt I may be pregnant, she gave me a lecture suited for a 13 year old about how sometimes our cycles change. When I came back a couple weeks later and told her that I HAD in fact been pregnant, miscarried, and that my obgyn asked that I go from two medicines to one, she immediately had a chip on her shoulder and no longer offered advice. She just said "what do you want to do" and then did that. As if I had offended her. I stopped going after that because I'm almost 30 years old, I know my body, I've been to… psychiatrists and on anti-depressants since I was about 12, so I'm not new to this game... and I felt her level of professionalism, concern, relate-ability, and general level of care was a disgrace to the profession. Good luck to her. On a good note, the ladies who run her office are very sweet and helpful. That's all I got.

I've been seeing Dr. Alam for about 6 months and have found her to be professional, efficient, and helpful.

Needed to talk to doctor about medication when my daughter was in hospital. Although I called twice, she never returned my phone calls. Her office manager said that this was just missed with the tone of someone explaining away a typo in a paper instead of apologizing for causing us great distress. Because she did not return my calls, we had to make our own decisions concerning the medications. Luckily we were able to research the information on the web. But, when we are paying $100 for a 15 minute visit every 2-3 weeks, I would expect a "doctor" to be more interested in their patients. If I could find another doctor with availability, I would fire this one.
