Dr. Shankar Srinivasan, MD

I have been a patient of Dr Shankar Srinivasan for 10 years. "Dr S" is very dedicated to his patients and not just a pill pusher. He also studied Social Work and this shows by his amazing bedside mannerism. He is not stuffy and sit behind some big desk like many psychiatrists. He is easy going and takes a vested interest in whole life aspects of how psychiatric illnesses exacerbate and various forms of the best complete care plan including improving quality of life through meds, counseling, IOP, public support groups, self care planning and more. Dr Srinivasan is MY ROCK. The past 8 years as his patient I have received the best care than any other psychiatrist I've ever been to and has kept me the most stable in my life as well. Do not confuse "Dr Srinivasa Rao" with "Dr Shankar Srinivasan" by their similar names. The late Dr Rao is no longer at the Immediate Cate Psychiatric Center (ICPC) and the practice is continuing on even better. This practice and Dr S have been a true life… saver. Any time I have a problem I can call to be seen quickly and Dr S always makes the time to see last minute emergency situations despite having a full patient schedule. He has never let me down once. He has given me back quality of life that I can't express in words. There are many employees (reception, social workers, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, and IOP staff for outpatient care and IOP programs for adults, women and children and more); They even offer pharmacy drug filling services. I will never leave Dr Srinivasan EVER. I apologize to those that go to see him, but if I ever move, I'd have to take "Dr S" with me! I'll never stop seeing him until the day he retires. I've never had such impeccable psychiatric care and I give the greatest of thanks for the care ICPC gives me that has changed my life! I have received a good deal of help from Dr. S when I couldn’t see the light. Mental illness is horrible and he is very sympathetic towards this.

I have been a patient of ICPC for the past 20 years. Of these 20 years, I have been with my doctor, Shankar Srinivasan, for the last 10 years (since 2007). I highly recommend him. He is kind, considerate and very professional. Most recently he sent me for bloodwork to monitor my medication. Because of his initiative, I discovered that I had abnormal levels of the liver and the left kidney. He immediately sent me to my primary care physician for treatment. I am most grateful to him. He knows exactly what is best for his patients.

He royaly screws up your medications. Has me see him in 60 days. First doesn't preauthorize one of my meds insurance wouldn't cover it, my pharmacy calls it gets fixed. Then i realize there is no refill on half my medications. It took me 2 weeks to get ahold of him with both my pharmacy calling and me calling sometimes multiple times a day. He finally send in my scripts only to cut one medication amount in to 1/4th and the other he forgets to pre authorize again. Its been over a week and he hasn't corrected the issue. Im out of meds and he doesn't seem to care at all He should know who I am based on the amount of calls Ive made in the last 3 weeks

I don't know what about I'm creeps me out, but I hate being in his office alone with him. His bedside manner is minimal, and he's very dull.

I was extremely pleased and hopeful after our first meeting, but as it turned out, the doctors at ICPC don't spend much time with you after the initial visit. Appointments with him for months afterwards were five minutes tops (they always double book), and he never even looked at me while I was speaking--only at his computer. I found him to be an odd mix of both dismissive and combative when it came to discussing effective and safe treatment plans for my treatment resistant MDD and anxiety (5+ years without remission). I don't think he really ever heard a word I said in 10 months... If you just need a psychiatrist and already have a great treatment plan, he is efficient and will get the job done, but if you need someone to listen and to work WITH a you to finally figure out how to help you... this is not your doctor.

Doesn't listen and give enough time to the patient

After years of psychologists and psychiatrists Dr. Srinivasan completely diagnosed me. I was mis-diagnosed for years and within the first visit he knew.. We tried varied treatments until we got it right.. He put in the time and listened to what I was telling him.. Most doctors put you on a drug and send you on your way.. This was not the case at all.. Different from the rest...

My son visited with this physician three times and each time he spent 5 minutes tops, speaking with him and 30 minutes speaking with us as a family. He did absolutely nothing for my son. He's only interested in receiving his payments.
