Dr. Shannon Dawn Evans, DO

I just came from my 5th or so appointment with Dr. Evans. What a pleasure it is to see her! Always feel uplifted and well-cared for!

Unreliable and unprofessional DR. and staff Do not see Dr. Evans. She and her staff have a lack of follow through and care for their patients. I saw DR. Evans as my primary DR for a back injury. She referred me to PT. After the injury wasn’t healing I got an XRAY and another referral. When it didn’t improve., I messaged Dr. Evans and called the staff twice requesting an MRI referral, I had been dealing with this injured back for 2 months. After my calls I was told by Kayla (Dr. Evan’s assistant) that Dr. Evans had it and that Kayla would call me back, she didn’t. I waited another week in pain and followed up with my request and they said I had to come in, there were no appointments for a few days so that put me back 2 weeks from when I made the request. I came in and asked Dr Evan’s assistant Kayla what happened she just said “well I sent it.” I asked what happened and she said let me check and just didn’t say anything back to me or even explain she just went back to her office work.… No apology or explanation that I had to wait another two weeks. Dr. Evans didn’t get it so Kayla wasn’t following through to see that the Dr. had it. I got the MRI referral on that visit and was told I’d have to wait for HMSA approval. I asked Kayla if it could be expedited she said no. I called HMSA and they said it could be. Again being misinformed by Kayla. Then my MRI needed more info. That it didn’t say anything about me seeing 3 physical therapist and 3 chiros. I called the office and Shayla the other staff there said “we were told to not do anything more we’ve already explained that to you. you have to see the specialist.” (they weren’t open for an appointment for two months though) and I said HMSA said they just needed more info. She said there’s nothing more we can do and hung up on me. Without more info HMSA denied the referral. So now I would have to see the specialist but he was booked 2 months out. That’s a long time suffering with a possible slipped disc. HMSA told me they could simply resubmit which Dr. Evans personally refused to do when I spoke to her, she also said she would put urgent on my referral to the specialist that maybe I could get in sooner which she didn’t do when I asked the specialist’s office. This is multiple counts of neglect. The MRI request to begin with, being told there’s no way to expedite, not getting back to HMSA about my MRI with more info, not filing the appeal to HMSA, not putting urgent on the specialist referral. (after stating she would) There’s also countless no call backs and left messages trying to get ahold of the staff. It was a 2 month nighmare dealing with them. I gave up on Dr. Evans. after hours of time spent and months of waiting, I switched to another primary DR. (my whole family as well has left Dr. Evans). On my first visit with her my new Primary Dr., she made the referral for the MRI and it got approved first go no problem! This really shows how unprofessional Dr. Evans and her staff handled my situation. When you are going through the hardship of an injured back you want to feel like your primary Dr. and staff have sympathy for your health and professionalism in taking care of their patients. The staffs lack of communication and follow through with the Dr. Evans as well as Dr. Evans lack of initiative in getting my MRI shows a lack of care for her patient. Rather than being a caring figure through my hardship with my back she was an additional ordeal I had to deal with in healing my back.
