Dr. Shantharam Darbe, MD

My mother is now almost 88 years old. For over ten years she has been under the care of Dr Darbe for treatment of age related problems with cognitive performance. The challenge to keep her functioning has been elusive over time. He is the only doctor we have tried that has the skill and understanding of how to balance the variety of medications needed. He is amazing at what he does and he really does care. Don't delay helping your loved ones.

Scheduler told me slots for Medicare patients were “full”. This is a first! Is this permissible policy for doctors listed on MediCare website? I have notified my referring physician and advised the Practice Manager. Private insurance pays more but do doctors get to hedge their bets?? I was not told how many MediCare patients are “accepted.”

Dr. Darbe is the first Psychiatrist I've ever seen and I am so glad I met him. I am a professional woman, have gone through the chemical changes of menopause and discovering adult ADD while under his care. . . he is quick to understand how to tweak my meds, respect my input . . . asking me when I think I should come back in . . .3 months? 6 months? I appreciate the office staff, the monitoring of medications (once our dog's anxiety medication ended up on my chart!) and the fact that they are so respectful of everyone walking in their doors.

My son who is non verbal and Autisic LOVES Dr Darbe ! We have been to a lot of different doctors and my son has not done as well as he does with Dr Darbe . The staff is very nice and so helpful and will tend to what ever your needs with understanding . We left for a short period and couldnt wait to be back !

My family members have used Dr. Darby on and off for several years. He is loved by one of them and she wouldn't trade Dr. for the world. Another one, refuses to see him ever again and a third sees him, but doesn't really think he spends the kind of time with him that he needs. However, he has in all cases, made sure the people were seeing their therapist like they are suppose too and he has been wonderful at being able to locate a bed in the hospital when one is needed ASAP. He is very busy and he see's lots of patients. A lot of his patients would have no care at all if it weren't for him.

Dr. Darbe is a very nice man and perhaps deals better with adults than he does children. While his demeanor is kind, he lacks information regarding other forms of treatment than medicine. I once suggested a change of diet (nothing drastic) and he laughed it off. He also denied us ADHD medication when it has been well documented.

This doctor is only worried about his financial gain. He treated myself and my son, spent all of 5 minutes in the room, wrote prescriptions for my son without any formal testing having been done to confirm a diagnosis... My baby was 4!!! This office has extremely rude staff. Cindy, the LCSW is wonderful. Other than that, I would not recommend this office to my worst enemy.

My views after seeing this "Dr." for 2 years. He is a one minute man, he is in and then out... He will walk in throw a pill in your face and think it will make you better. Then your not suppose to see him again. After two years of seeing him, he still did not know where I lived, I told him every time I live in a different city a hour away. He will not see you for more then one or two minutes. This is how a appointment with him goes EVERY TIME. No matter what city you go to Guthrie or OKC. His staff will schedule you every two months or so. That is the only time he is in the office, Once a month in each place. You will wait one plus hour in the waiting room. Then you will wait 30 minutes to see the Intern. Then you will wait another 30 minutes to a hour just to have him come in, and have the intern explain to him that you need this pill, and then he will write a note for the pharmacy you choose to give it to you. It will be more then one if you are "Crazy" and he will make you think… that. Just being around him and going to a appointment makes you feel crazy sometimes because you are not talking to someone with English down pat, and this is the man who is going to diagnose you? Really a man that I can't even understand a word he is saying..is going to give me drugs? You will see after all that dam waiting, it is not worth it. He just doesn't care about you! He may smile and make one joke after you see him for a while. However he is very off putting. Tons of people go to him. He is a foreign doctor, So he does not really understand a WORD you say (which is just how I like my Dr.s def!). You say I am wearing a blue shirt, he will say "No no, it is a green shirt you are wearing. Here I will give you a pill to fix the blue you see in this shirt you claim you are wearing. I don't believe you so you must take this pill with millions of side effects that will make you come back to me to sell you the drugs I get paid to give you and that your insurance will cover or may not you will see." Then you reply, wait can you repeat the start middle, oh and the end of what you just said? "Haha no worries, just take this and I will see you in two months ok?!=) Uh alright, bye? And that conversation take about 2+hours to get.They would not see me any more because I missed a few appointments. Well I told the jack a that I lived out of town. I'm sorry its a hard economy I just got my health insurance cut off, and I don't have the gas, and it was stormy that day, All I got back was a SORRY! WE CANT SEE YOU ANYMORE!
