Dr. Shanthi Thangam, MD

I went to her for 2 years. She never once showed up on time. You would sit in her office with 20 other people while she took hours to show. If you said anything about her being late she would just shut you down and blow off your concerns. Her husband ran the office and would get on her for being late.

I waited in the waiting room for 2 hours. She watched me from the receptionist area and assumed I didn't have support because I was there alone. Went back and told her my feelings and what brought me in and immediately told me to go to oceans. It wasn't even 15 minutes into the meeting. She didn't even give me a prescription for any type of meds.I went to the ER freaking out and feeling crazy because Oceans didn't have a bed. The Hospitalist PA and MHMR evaluated me and cleared me. They even told me that having me go to a facility was very extreme. A complete waste of time and an extra hospital bill on my part. I have a history of Anxiety and panic attacks and she gave me unnecessary anxiety; which led into an attack. For someone that is supposed to help people like me she really missed the ball. I would not recommend her and will not be going back.

The wait is quite inconvenient, however, I have seen many doctors over the past 8 years, and I can honestly say that Dr. Thangum is one of the best Doctors I have been treated by. I feel comfortablecomfortable talking to her, and she is helpful, she is also very encouraging, and puts me at ease. All in all, the wait time. Is grueling, but well worth it!

Dr. Thangam has treeted me for A.D.H.D. for the past ten years and I think she is a very caring and capable doctor. I would recemend her to anyone.

Terrible experience. After waiting forever in a crowded and chaotic waiting area was seen for less than 5 minutes, Didi not feel I was heard, could not understand what she said, was given a medication that caused terrible side effects. Don't go to her.

We were referred to Dr. Thangum by Texas Tech Physicians for my teenage son. This was a horrible experience. For the few times we saw her before switching doctors, we noticed we routinely had to wait up to an hour or later past our appointment time to get in to see her. When we were finally called back, she never truly listened to the issues and rushed through the appointment without any appropriate "doctor's bedside manner." Do not waste your time with Dr. Thangum.

Instead of going here to get help, you leave NEEDING help. 1. Why make 5 appointments at the same time? And then post a note stating to please be patient due to some appointments taking longer then others.... Makes no sense to me. 2. The bathroom..... We have been twice (and that is 1 time to many) and both times there has been NO SOAP. Can we say unsanitary?!?! 3. The office staff!!! Wow! Where to start? One is just hateful, doesn't call and confirm appointments like she is supposed to, then calls a day later and informs you that you have missed your appointment, reschedules you, and then notifies you that you owe a $25 no show fee. Um, call and confirm and I wouldn't have missed it. Then screws up with the insurance and is not sure if I should owe them more money, or if she owes me! That was a hassle... The other woman has a baby. Now I know what it's like to be a full time single mother, but an office like that should NOT allow their employees to have their child back there. It's… hard to keep a young one quiet, and when you have the patients you have, it's just not comforting. Plus, I don't think a Metallica Tee Shirt is quite office attire. 4. After waiting 2 1/2 hours I find it odd that she can spend maybe 3 minutes total talking to my son, and 5 minutes talking to me to diagnose my child with ADHA and hand over a prescription. Someone's a little to easy with the prescriptions. She was very hard to understand, and my son hated having to ask her to repeat herself because he didn't understand what she was saying. 5. Im not really sure what the older gentleman's purpose of being there is, but he is rude and really made not only myself, but my children the creeps. All in all it was a horrible experience, and it was the last time we will ever go to her. I will not recommend anyone I know to her.

Very long waits to see MD. Sometimes I have waited over 2 hours to be seen.

I have been to her office two times. The first time, she had young students all over the waiting room. This is not the best for an adult who needs to see a psychiatrist. Her waiting room could be more "kid" friendly. My 23 year old son did not like being around young kids. I do think she cares about her patients. Personally, I do not go to a psychiatrist for his office staff to be all smiles. I go to get help, because I need the medical care.My son said her office bathroom had no soap in it. That is something that can be taken care of quickly.I was impressed she knew where to get some counseling for my son. I am a former Special Education teacher. I was glad to talk with a good professional.

wasn't even told when I made the appt. that she no longer has an office in Midland only in Odessa. So when I go for my appt. that I waited for 2 weeks to get to my surprise there was no office at that address in Midland. Cancelled appt. due to poor staffing
