Dr. Sharnell (Shar) Valentine joined Essentia Health in 2002 as a general pediatrician. Dr. Valentine graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors from the University of North Dakota. Subsequently, she completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. Dr. Valentine is thrilled to enjoy the beauty of the North Shore. Her special interests include vaccinations and newborn care, especially reviewing a newborns care plan in the hospital. ""Seeing my patients grow up healthy from infancy until adulthood is an honor and I enjoy the relationships made with the whole family,' Dr. Valentine said. Teen care-including sexual health and screening for mental health issues-is an important part of Dr. Valentine's practice and she focuses on helping teens gain the skills to manage their health care as adults. Dr. Valentine is a board member of Sister Cities Duluth and is active in the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
