Dr. Sharon Shaindel Packer, MD

You'd think Psychiatrists would know better than to behave so poorly. Take caution.

Dr Packer is never fully engaged in your issues. She often talks about issues that she finds interesting. She recently got frustrated with me for being late. I have never been late. She was borderline verbally abusive. Need to find another Dr.

I think that Dr. Packer is first rate psychiatrist who has helped me a lot. But there obviously are many divergent opinions about her on Vitals. I also have met someone at a party who was heavily dissing her for not giving him the medications he desired. I think that this may explain the disparity of viiews, or at least part of it. If you are seriously interested in getting better and not just seeking a cocktail of drugs, she is a very good doctor and perhaps a good one for you. But psychiatry is very personal, and she still may not be quite right for your particular issues. She is rather straightforward about giving you her insights on your problems. This may be a little rough for some. If so, perhaps she isn't the psychiatrist for you. She is also somewhat directive and I can understand that many patients may not like that. But I found her insights and recommendations extremely helpful. If you a looking for a psychiatrist who will mindlessly agree to giving you "your medicines" that… you know you need, probably you are not going to like her one little bit. I am not saying that I know that all the negative comments are from disappointed drug seekers, but I bet that most of them are. She can see right through those types and, like the guy I mentioned above, they hate her for that. Of course, perhaps some psychiatrists have a way of turning those people around. Perhaps for some she can. But I suspect that most of them go away angry and seek out someone who is easier to con.

Just an awful experience. All the reviews are correct and please do not go there. I would NEVER recommend this doctor. She is horrible and a SCAM.

terrible, terrible, terrible! So uncaring, judgemental and rude....everytime i went for an appointment it felt as though i were appearing before a judge making sure everything was looking good on the outside so she didnt put me down and tell me how much of an alcoholic i am and to seek treatment elsewhere because im pretty much hopeless! Great advice doc! oh...and did i mention , money hungry! glad im not alone though..:) well anyway...i decided not to go back and quit taking my meds and i feel better than ever now!

I found Dr. Packer to be efficient and knowledgable. She returned the respect that I showed her, and was very accomodating for my follow ups. Best of all, I actually feel better now after seeing her for 4 visits.
