Dr. Shawn Christopher Chen, MD

I've used Dr. Chen as my primary care doctor for over two years now. I appreciate how he takes the time to listen to my concerns and then suggests various approaches and alternatives. He also constantly and quickly communicates any changes in my meds and/or treatment suggestions to my adult son who helps arrange all my doctor appointments. Dr. Chen also coordinates with all my specialists and is the sole point of contact for anything related to my care. I feel lucky to have such a caring and kind doctor! I've had over a dozen primary care doctors over the years and he is by far THE BEST!!! And he also makes house calls when necessary! I highly recommend him to any other seniors who want to find a very experienced geriatric health primary care physician who genuinely cares about the well-being of their patents. I just hope he doesn't retire any time soon because I plan on being around for a least another decade or so! :-)

Dr Chen was my elderly parents' physician from 2014-2020 while they were in Independent Living and Assisted Living facilities in Austin. He is competent, experienced, patient, caring, professional and accessible. He not only was extremely helpful to my parents (mom with dementia and dad with heart problems), he helped my brothers and I with some difficult decisions. Dr Shawn Chen's practice is visiting patients in long term care. He is not an advocate for his patients and worse put up roadblocks to getting appropriate care. He has a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas and does not work well with other doctors (specialists).

Dr. Chen has cared for my mother-in-law for 4 months. He is available and very responsive. He organized and simplified her medication after his first visit. I knew right then that he was good. He anticipates her needs and is both safe, but compassionate with medication management. At least three times, he has already addressed issues before I have asked. I am so glad is his my mother-in-law's physician. Thanks, Dr. Chen!!
