Dr. Shawna Lea Laursen, MD

I first met Dr. Laursen when I was taken to Island Hospital after basically being sent home from Whidbey General in extremely serious back pain. Dr. Laursen immedially realized the genuine pain I was in and did everything necessary to alleviate it. Her correct diagnosis saved me from a lot of cointinues pain and discomfort. After that, she became my primary physcian even though her office was 45 minutes away. I couldn't believe how lucky I was to have met Dr. Laursen as over the next few years, I realized what a great doctor she is. Even when I moved to the East side of Washington, I would drive 6 hours for my appointments with her for quite a while until it was decided that due to certain medical issues I had, I needed closer care than she was able to provide. No other doctor has ever given the consistantly high level of knowledge and care that seemed routine for Dr. Laursen. She always had the time to fully discuss all of my medical needs and questions and I never felt rushed at an… appointment. She always genuinely greatly cared about any issues I had and she has the unique ability to instill complete trust in her, which I was able to feel with her more than any other doctor in my 50 plus years of life. I was able to very comfortably discuss any and all medical issues with her and I mean all of them. She also always seem to get it right (diagnosis and treatment)and was never judgemental when I didn't exactly follow her advice. I was very saddened not having Dr. Laursen as my primary care physcian any more and if I moved anywhere closer I'd sure hope to be her patient again. She is unique among doctors and anyone should feel very lucky to be her patient.
