I am extremely dissatisfied with our recent office visit on December 22 at 8:00 AM for my daughter. When I scheduled the appointment, I explained that I believed she had warts on the bottom of her right foot. During the visit, which lasted less than five minutes (and was recorded with my permission), Shawnese McLeod did not physically examine or touch my daughter’s foot. She briefly looked at it and stated it was not a wart, but instead a corn/callus. When I asked how she could determine that without further examination, she simply said she could tell by looking at it and advised us to “give it time,” stating there was nothing we could do. Over the next month, my daughter continued to complain of pain. Because her symptoms did not improve, I took her to a podiatrist for a second opinion. The specialist thoroughly examined her foot, identified three plantar warts (including visible black seed-like spots), and treated them during the visit. He expressed confusion as to why the previous… diagnosis was a corn/callus. What concerns me most is the lack of a thorough examination during our initial visit. Doctor McLeod did not take the time to properly assess my daughter’s foot, despite my questions and concerns. Additionally, the office has submitted a claim to my insurance for a corn/callus diagnosis, even though no treatment was provided. When I called to request that the diagnosis be reviewed or corrected, the office refused. I am disappointed by the lack of care, the brief and incomplete examination, and the refusal to address billing concerns. I hope this feedback encourages more thorough evaluations and better communication with families in the future.
