Dr. Shayna Sweezy

Shayna (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia who specializes in anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, CPTSD and complex trauma, and other trauma and stressor-related disorders. Shayna specializes in working with clients who are feeling stuck, need assistance processing adverse or traumatic events, have difficulty controlling their anxiety or depression, or are struggling to navigate stressors such as relationship issues, parenting, work/life balance, death, etc. Shayna utilizes multiple evidence-based approaches to help her clients manage and process challenges. Shayna largely uses a psychodynamic approach, as well as pulling from other evidence-based approaches like mindfulness and CBT. Her holistic approach to therapy acknowledges life’s complexities in order to increase self-awareness and self-confidence. Making the choice to attend therapy is often a significant step, and Shayna strives to create an environment where her clients feel safe …and comfortable expressing themselves without judgment.
