Dr. Sheikh M Ilyas

Wait time is horrible. I waited over 40 minutes past my appt. time. When Dr. Sheikh came into the room he asked how I was feeling and answered for me before I could even express my tooth pain. Then he spent literally less than 10 minutes assessing and drilling my tooth (WITHOUT ANESTHESIA). He didn't even bother to inquire whether I wanted to be numbed or not, just went ahead and started drilling. I went to him months before when he drilled too much and overworked my tooth prompting the need to get a root canal. I was stupid enough to go back to him for more work done on that tooth. He again shaved away too much and said I would need to come back for a crown. Angrily, I told him he needed to add more filling (and when he did, it wasn't smoothed down well enough) He was rushing the whole time. At one point he moved onto the next patient stating that he will "come back to me in a few minutes" I will get a crown somewhere else. DON'T TRUST HIM. He's just out to get money from you!

When I made an appointment with this dentist they asked for my social because Metlife doesn't have ID numbers anymore. I called Metlife and they told me that the doctors office would only need my name and Group number. I told the dentist office that and they said they still needed my social. I told them I was not comfortable giving it over the phone but I would give it when I came in for my appointment. The office manager said that was fine...then three more people (someone different each time) called me trying to get me to give my social over the phone. I told them each repeatedly that I would not give it over the phone and would give it in person. The last guy who called didn't even have my correct appointment time. Obviously they are not very organized over there AND very very sketchy asking for my social over the phone. I do not trust whatever is going on at that "Dentist" office.

Very unprofessional front desk staff. Did not pay attention - at all- when I spoke to him. Very slow in getting records sent out. Not impressed.

The doctor is heavy handed and rushed. This is not a high touch dentist.He is a high volume dentist that does many diagnostic procedures to increase billing cost. My mouth felt traumatized. The building is in disrepair. Misrepresents credentials. He is not a graduate of NYU dental school. He may have taken continuing education classes there but it is a misrepresentation to say that he is a graduate of their dental school. His office assistant is kind and efficient. Not upscale but seems clean. If you are used to excellent dental care and handling and treatment this is certainly not a good fit. If you are used to more back alley dentistry for poor people who may not have an option this is a great fit.
