Dr. Carter is by far the smartest and most talented orthopedic surgeons I've ever encountered. I have consulted at least 8-10 surgeons in my life time do to having hip issues since birth. I needed to have my left knee replaced, which was not a easy task in light of the fact I had a fused hip. Dr. Carter went over and beyond what any ordinary ortho would do to prepared for this vey difficult Surgery. I had multiple scans, x-rays and measurements leading up to the big day. Most knee replacements for Dr. Carter take 2-3 hrs. Mine was every bit of 4-5. His preparation paid off and the surgery was a total success. Today I'm walking (still with a Fused hip) but no knee pain. This man is the BEST

Not just what a physician but what a man. So personable, courteous and considerate. Like having a very capable old friend look after you. We are a family of physicians and attorneys so not much impresses me but this is an exceptional physician who is also a gentleman. And Dr Shelby Carter has an exemplary reputation as a splendid surgeon.

The wait for appoiontment was well worth the wait, I had a great outcome on first surgery and an in process of scheluling second.

An Excellent Orthopedic Surgeon

Best doctor ever, my life totally changed after my hip replacement for the better!

This is by far the best ortho in Texas ! He knows his business, he corrected the bad work done on me by another ortho. He has a fun personality but never is not professional. I would give him a 6 on bedside manner if that were an option.

I had both knees replaced in 2012 and 2013. I had fallen at home in the Fall of 2014, in my closet, and right onto my glass topped scale. I called for my daughter to help me get up and I limped to my bed. We put ice onto my knees. I was afraid I had ruined something inside the knees. Called for an appt. with Dr. Shelby's office and one with his PA was arranged. I went in and X-rays were taken right away. The PA looked at the X-rays and while doing that, Dr. Carter took time away from his patients to check my X-rays and my knees himself. Luckily no damage was done to my knees, they were just bruised up. I was so impressed with the knowledge that Dr. Carter cares about his patients and that he would take time away from his busy schedule to check my knees himself. What an angel!!!

I have been going to Dr. Carter for about 13 years. He has performed about seven surgeries on my knees and hips. I have never has a problem with any of the operations and feels I am so much better off than I was. He is extremely attentive in diagnosing the problem and correcting it. He always gives me the time I need and is extremely caring. His staff is superior. When I go to see him, it is more like going to see a friend that is going to help you. He is great.

My husband had his first appointment today. First of all we know many people who have had knee, hip replacements and Dr. Carter came very highly recommended. To me, waiting for a doctor does not bother either of us. I feel that a good doctor is very worth waiting for. Dr. Carter gave my husband time, answered all questions graciously and thoroughly. We did not feel he was rushing my husband through his appointment. My husband is now scheduled for surgery and we both feel trust and confidence in Dr. Carter. Also, his staff were friendly, polite and professional. They were obviously happy employees which speaks well for Dr. Carter. So that is our first impression.
