I never leave reviews but I had such a terrible experience with this dermatologist facility, I had to express my concerns. I apologize, this is going to be a long review to explain what happened. I also want to say first that I have used the medical spa next door for a facial and I had a good experience with them. I had been a patient of Advanced Dermatology before about 4 years ago, even back then all they cared about was the co-pay which was always outrageous. I never once saw Dr. Ray in the 3 or 4 years I was treated there. I saw her medical assistants or nurse practitioners and they were always rude. I stopped going and fast forward to 4 years later I had a spot come up that I needed to get checked out so I thought well I’ll try them again. Mind you, when I went before I drove 45 minutes from Gadsden to see this facility. So I call, make an appointment and the nurse told me even though I was a patient before since it had been 4 years I needed to fill out and update my… paperwork which is understandable so I filled out all my paper work online the night before on patient portal. The nurse also told me that I needed to arrive “a little” bit early so I could fill out one paper and get my temp taken due to COVID-19 which I told her was no problem. So the next day my appointment comes, I drive 45 minutes to Oxford, arrive 10 minutes early to fill out the one paper and get my temp taken before I could enter the office. (This took a total of 3 minutes) I walk up to the desk to sign in for my 9:30 appointment and my sign in time was 9:25. The front desk lady tells me that I was marked as a “no show” because I was supposed to be there “30 minutes early to fill out paperwork” even though my appointment time is 9:30 and I was 5 minutes early for that. I told her I was never told I needed to arrive at 9 am to fill out paper work and that I already filled out everything on the patient portal online so bottom line she said they can’t “work me in” even though I’m early for my appointment time which makes no sense. They do not care about their patients whatsoever and both times that I have gone have proven that. Please don’t give your hard earned money to a facility like this. When I was there the first time 4 years ago they had a sign in the patient room that said “If you have another concern or issue please make another appointment.” Or something to the affect which proves they are there for the money and will not speak to you about multiple issues. However, after this terrible experience I sat in the parking lot and googled other facilities in Oxford and Dr. Stacy Haynes was right down the road. I called them and explained the situation and they took me in without an appointment and took excellent care of me. They even stated I’m not the first patient that has called with issues from Dr. Rays office. I even received a call from Dr. Haynes office to check on me the next day. I hope this review will help people in the future who are looking for a dermatologist that cares about their patients.

A month ago I was told that need a referral, I went to my primary care physician and got the referral. Gave referral to dr ray and now am told not excepting new patients - not cool in my mind

I have seen Dr. Ray and her assistant for a number of years now. Everyone in the office has always been exceptionally great. I have a lot of skin damage due to tanning and they always take their time to give me a thorough exam.....never rushed. Results from any/all treatments have been successful.

Dr Ray and her staff treated me like family. They were all so kind and caring!

Dr Shelley Ray is the very best! She is very caring and smart. They have recently gone through a huge transition with staff, the atmosphere is so much better than in the past. All staff members are very kind and helpful now!

She is a great doctor and explained all concerns about my skin.

I have been seeing Dr. Ray for several years. She is extremely knowledgeable and her staff is always so friendly.

Dr Ray and her staff were all very friendly and courteous. After signing in, I was called back within a few minutes. Dr Ray was very knowledgeable about my condition and able to offer a lot of help. I am very pleased and would highly recommend her.

Doc was thorough. Receptionist rude, all visits.
