Dr. Shelley Ruth Salpeter, MD

Beware. Dr. Salpeter fired my healthy 77 year mother (with dementia) when she fell and broke her hip bc we wouldn’t use her hospice (mission). She showed up at hospital 5 days after surgery to push hospice (she even took a personal text laughing while she is in a patient/family meeting), and once my mother was released for “home” health care, she didn’t respond for 5 days to multiple requests from assisted living care team and family for a higher dose of Tylenol (she had in the hospital) so the care team can manage her pain so she can participate in physical therapy, sleep without being agitated, and eat/drink without being in so much pain. 7 days later she fired my mother.

Run from this doctor. She is cruel and insensitive toward both patient and family members. Her medical judgement is poor and demonstrates a lack of understanding for the population that she is supposed to specialize in. I am so upset that I did not look at these reviews before transferring my mother to her care. Read these reviews before you let her care for your loved one.

Very smart practical doc

I had call Dr saltpeter’s office a couple of weeks ago so that my mother could become a New patient. My mother had Dr. Sal Peter as her doctor years ago but then Dr saw Peter quit her practice at her office in San Mateo. She kept a handful of patients but my mother was not one of them. When I called a couple of weeks ago the receptionist asked several questions as to my mothers issues and illnesses. She told me Dr Salpeter Would see my mother next week but the receptionist will call me back for a day and time. Several days later I received a call from the receptionist and she said that the dr could not see her The next week because she had two other patients she needed to see first. She also said that the doctor was booked for another month. I did not like the first excuse but I accepted it and told her I would call back in a month. No week later the receptionist calls me and says my mother does not fit the criteria and it is not a good fit for Dr. I was very upset because when I talk… with this receptionist twice before my mother was still supposed to be seen by the doctor. Third time I speak with the receptionist she is thinking of any excuse to get rid of my mother. I told her she does not have to think of another excuse for the doctor not to see my mother. I certainly do not want a Doctor Who does not want my mother to be a patient of theirs. I expressed now I understand why Dr saltpeter has two star rating cumulatively. Horrendous treatment. Dr already making excuses. I wouldn’t want my mother to have this doctor. Why would you?

She is a knowledgeable and kind person

Dr. Salpeter is compassionate, caring, thorough and an expert in her field. She is also very pragmatic, knowing when it is important to stop hoping for unrealistic improvement and helping you learn to accept and manage the limitations you have in the present with as much comfort as possible

Dr Salpeter is a fantastic home care doctor.

A wonderful competent and empathetic doctor

Shelley is smart intuitive and thinks out of the box. She considers every patient as an individual.

Shocked to the point of disbelief, I had this doctor tell me that she is in charge and there is no more help for my loved one. Why not?! My loved one can still feel and is conscious but this inhumane doctor refused and proactively stopped all treatment because my loved one is elderly. I had to sit and watch my loved one pass away while this vicious and monster of a doctor tries to take over as the main hospice doctor. Are you so desperate and greedy for more money?! Unbelievable! Please go find another hospital rather than mills peninsula.
