Dr. Shelly Lynn Betman, MD

Dr Betman has been our family doctor for over 20 years. I met her when I was single and now my whole family goes to her. She is the most caring and wonderful human I have ever met. I trust her with my life, she is thorough, caring and is truly interested in you as a person. I highly recommend her.

I had bad experience after bad experience with the whole operation, doctor, nurses and staff. They side stepped a lot of my insurance and "how much does this procedure cost" questions. I had unnecessary procedures done and an injection was done quite high on my deltoid (anyone hear of SIRVA?). Also it was a Flu vaccine I've gotten before and my arm had never swelled up/hurt the next 7 days like that! Never! Well just be careful if you choose this practice.

Dr. Betman is nice. It's the staff I have issue with. I was double booked for an appointment within a few days of each other. How it happened I have no idea but if I knew about the second appointment OR if I was notified I had two appointments on the calendar (literally within days of each other) I would have cancelled one. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for $60 for missing an appointment. YES $60. Thought it was a mistake since I DID see Dr. Betman and on a day when there was a blizzard. When I called their office to question the charge, I was basically told that regardless of what happened I owed $60 and if I refused to pay I would be taken to court. OMG! Guess it was worth losing a patient over a mixup and $60.

Shelly Betman is very knowledgeable and intelligent. She seems nice. However, she is always VERY late and the appointments are brief because of it.

I live in Milwaukee and keep traveling to see Dr. Betman in Chicago because she is friendly, patient, listens and explains. I have never left her office confused or feeling rushed. After my experience today in Milwaukee, I will be calling tomorrow for an appointment.

Shelly is a wonderful and compassionate physician. She has seen me through a major health issue and made sure I was able to take the best advantage of the Northwestern Hospital system of health care. Her listening skills and scientific knowledge are excellent.

I came to Dr Betman's office when I turned 50, having been told I needed an internist on staff at a hospital in case I ever got sick and needed to get into the hospital quickly. I asked around, and everyone who had ever seen Dr Betman was still with her, raving about her care, bedside manner, etc. I saw her once and was hooked! There have been quite a few things over the years that required a specialist recommendation, and I will say each and every one of those was an excellent doctor who handled the issues wonderfully. I cannot imagine not having Dr Betman to turn to, so I hope she has no plans to retire anytime soon... I think she's one of the best doctors I've ever had the pleasure to know.

Dr B is phenomenal, caring, intelligent & very attuned to the needs of her patients . She spends almost an hour with me at each appointment and I have seen her for many years--quality of care is outstanding . There are no billing issues I have had with the office

Like no doctor I've known, takes time to ask probing questions that often lead to actionable information. Caring. Sees fewer patients than most physicians and just plain old seems to give a d#mn when so many others don't. Never had a better doctor, and at 55 and having lived in eight states, I've had my share.

Dr. Betman is very compassionate and an excellent listener. She does not rush me just to get done and she answers my questions. Very willing to explore different treatment options and to help arrange referrals to specialists as needed.
