Dr. Shelly M Galvin, DDS

I was a longtime patient of Dr. Galvin's practice and until last year, generally comfortable with the staff and care there. However, a couple of incidents occurred last winter and early spring that caused me to seek a new dentist. I discovered that whoever checked on my insurance at dr. Galvin's office did not notify me that they had dropped it. The explanation was that I had used all my benefit for the year and the dentist no longer used my insurance company although I had checked before the new year had started and was assured by everyone that I was covered! No one had notified me that anything was amiss until after the work was done. I ended up paying out of pocket for a partial. When I had my new dentist's staff member check with my insurance, she assured me that they still covered me and that dentist was happy to accept the insurance. I also asked for a predetermination beforehand and having been told a couple of times that a staff member with Galvin's office was on it, I… had to call my insurance company myself. The new dentist's insurance person assured me that they were "aggressive" and I received the estimate the next week for a crown. Needless to say, I felt really let down by Westwood Clinic.
