Dr. Shelly Stysons Harkins, MD

Very professional doctor and seemed sincerely concerned about me. She must have diagnosed me correctly because I feel a lot better. She figured it out without a lot of tests. I was glad to not have to spend a lot of money for more tests.

Dr. Harkins took care of my whole family when she was in the military. And then we saw her a few times when she was running he Hospitalist program at St. Elizabeth's. I read she was leaving the hospital and I'm so sad to hear that. She was our favorite doc all around, while family loves her. She's so smart and kind. My husband has passed on but I know he was always wanting to make sure he could see Dr Harkins when he got sick. She was just good to have at your side making decisions when you're going through health problems. St Elizabeth's is losing a special doctor and person. Wow! This doctor blew me away. I admit I don't much like female doctors- much less young ones that are also very very attractive, that's not what a man wants when he is sick. But I can't imagine ever feeling more comfortable or confident with a doctor. She saw me after my surgery when I was at St Elizabeth's and had a great answer for everything. I always had a list of questions and she would sit and answer all of them each day. I looked up a few things after I saw her just to make sure and sure enough, she was spot on in her diagnosis and treatment options. She explained things perfectly. Her professionalism is remarkable. I am sold on young female doctors now- well, at least this one. RC

She took care of both my parents on several occassions at St E's hospital. She always took time to explain things to me and my family. I learned to trust her opinion over evry other doctor that we had. I wish that she had an office where I could see her for my general health care. I would take everyone in my family to see her. I know she would never leave a stone unturned when it comes to figuring out what was making a patient sick. The nurses that work for her were also very nice and smart. One of the nurses at the hospital told me she would go to Dr. Harkins if she or a loved one was ill. That says alot.
