Dr. Shelly Lowell Ludwig, MD

I found Dr. Ludwig to be an excellent doctor. In particular, I thought he was especially helpful in treating me when standard treatments were not working. Also, I thought he had genuine concern for my health and recovery.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ludwig for several years after trying 2 other gastroenterologists with no success. He is truly an expert in his field, very thorough and explains everything to you, and good bed side manners. After a series of tests, he was able to identify my problem and tried different medications until we found one that provided me with relief. I would highly recommend Dr. Ludwig. The only downside is the time it takes to get an appointment.

He even called me on his lunch hour, to consult with me, because he was concerned I had an illness which turned out not to be, lucky for me. But this is what keeps me a patient. He also discovered a hernia, which no one else had ever told me I had. His manner is compassionate, and seems very caring. Even though I did not have the procedure he recommended, I will eventually go for it,. ( hoping he does not retire soon )!

This doctor doesnt listen 30 years ago he gave my mom a pill that had sulfa (which she is allergic to) and her mom told the doctor "Doctor Shelly Ludwig that she was allergic to the pill and he said no it was a side affect and it wasnt my mom had a horrible allergic reaction and she has permanent eye damage for life I WOULDNT SUGGEST THIS DOCTOR i would no him i wasnt alive when this happened so yeah i got told the story to

Dr. Ludwig is a thorough doctor. He listens to your symptoms acts accordingly with the appropriate tests. He follows up with the phone call after receiving any results from ultrasounds. He could be a bit abrupt, at times (I had this happen in the hospital when he was treating a family member and I approached him), but never during an office visit. The tall woman, working behind the window in his office, can be rude.

Dr. Ludwig is probably the most knowlegable doctor I've been too. It can take awhile to get an appointment but in an emergency his staff is very helpful. Most importantly Dr. Ludwig listens and spends as much time with you as needed.

Dr. Ludwig sets the standards for gastroentorolgists. However, his office manager is so bad I can't even describe it. Over and over again, she screwed things up and then was nasty. I don't understand why she is still there.

Disappointed. Not who I thought he was.
