Dr. Sheri Yukie Chinen, MD

If you want an endocrinologist that doesn’t listen and is dismissive then Dr. Chinen is the doctor for you. I went in and not only did she make me feel horrible about myself and basically told me that there’s nothing she can do. After much begging she ordered one test, probably to shut me up, and didn’t even brother to call me with the results. Found out my results from DLS website and those results show irregularities and are high. But not like she’ll help me, she’s too busy making excuses on why I’m feeling the way I feel. I thought being a doctor was about helping people, she must of not got that memo and is a doctor just for the acolytes.

Dr. Chimes demeanor and patient relationship is very comforting. She’s very positive when explaining what your ailment is, and how to correct it.

She works extremely well with my PCP.

Sheri stuggles to keep up with her work load. She did not treat me as an person, but by my medical condition, in a very offhanded and inconsiderate way. She does not like it when I ask questions or want to have a discussion. She will not offer a follow up appointment, or next lab test order, as a passive aggressive way of dismissing patients who do not conform to her cookie cutter method of ordering tests and writing prescriptions.

Too soon for follow-up but every aspect was top-notch. She suggested blood tests within a week and will contact me if she recommends any further changes. We scheduled a follow-up appointment in 3 months. Very personable and attentive.

I explained to her that my thyroid area felt tender. She did not palpate my thyroid. I asked her if she could see from across the room if it was swollen, she said that it didn't and that it is common to feel tenderness sometimes. As a nurse, I must do a full physical assessment on my patients. You could just imagine how dissapointed I was with her lack of interest and sub par assessment.

I have had several appointments with Dr. Nishimoto for a thyroid problem and have had no problems with her. Depending on the time of day I sometimes have had to wait longer than expected but that is rarely the doctors fault. Although she may be a bit shy she has always been very sweet to me and listens to everything I have to say and is apologetic if the wait time is longer. The nurses and people at the front desk are extremely sweet and caring and have always greeted me with a smile.

On first visit, I felt very hopeful about getting thorough care and follow-up. On second visit, I felt like she was throwing a prescription at me to get rid of me :( her waiting room was so full. How night and day these two visits were. Don't know what to tell you. Maybe she will treat you better.
