Dr. Shehrebanu Merchant

Dr. Merchant has been my Dr. for about 10 yrs now. I was referred to her by my Mom, who was a patient of hers & she even delivered my friends two sons. She is an amazing woman who cares for her patients beyond anyone I’ve ever seen. She’s nurturing, kind & doesn’t just focus on one specific but makes sure you’re in great health all around, as everything in your body connects one way or another. I moved out of state & still plan on seeing her whenever possible, as she is irreplaceable. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would & I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!

At 48 I wanted a hysterectomy after repeated cysts on my ovaries and my mother passing away 2 years ago from ovarian cancer. Dr. Merchant did a robotic hysterectomy. After multiple knee surgeries and 2 c-sections this procedure was a walk in the park. Dr. Merchant (and I do now) recommends bowel prep the day before yes the liquid tastes bad but its totally worth it to cleanse your system. I went into the hospital on Monday at 9:30 AM and left the hospital the next morning at 11:00 AM.I was walking around the hospital after 5-6 hours the day of surgery. Staying over night in the hospital was necessary for pain management (which was not that bad). The majority of the pain is from gas, walking helped elevate this. At home I relaxed for a few days and didn't need much pain medicine. I was back to my normal routine in about 3 days (driving, cooking, cleaning, etc.). I now have 3 tiny scars that are healing on stomach hardly noticeable. In addition to my hysterectomy Dr. Merchant… took extra time to clean up the internal C-section scar tissue I had (thank you!!!!) I highly recommend Dr. Merchant for anyone considering a hysterectomy.

I've been seeing Dr. Merchant for nearly 10 years now. She has always been sweet, positive and funny. She has always been truthful and taught me that I can take care of myself by making one very simple change at a time. In the short, succinct visits that I've had with her, she has treated and helped restore my being better than I have treated it as long as I've had it. She is down-to-earth, brilliant and humble. I am so blessed to be treated by Dr. Sheri Merchant at Amita Health in Alexian Bros. in Elk Grove Village.

i am recommending Dr. Merchant to all of my friends.She has assisted me with the birth of my first child and I currently see her for my second pregnancy. I value her care very much not only for her carring persona but also for her professionalism and experience. Her office staff has also been very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Good: The staff is great! They treat you like a real person having real experiences and not like the next specimen. I have been so impressed with this office. This was my first pregnancy. The doctor and the physician assistant seem to sincerely love what they do. I would recommend them to anyone, especially mothers to be!

I visited Dr. Merchant several times and she's been great. Sometimes, I was seen by her assistant which was just fine as she was fully informed about my health issues. If I have any questions or concerns, Dr. Merchant or her assistant will always return my call. Dr. Merchant is very qualified to make good decisions about my health and I trust her knowledge. This is a good office to visit.

She was my OB/GYN during my pregnancy. RIght from the time I got pregnant, she never once saw me. It was always her PA who saw me. Whenever I asked, she said, if there are no complications the doctor wouldnt come in.THis was my first pregnancy, I would've expected doctor to show up atleast once.When I said, I need to see her, the doctor came to the room with the attitude, 'Now what do you want!'

She is very freindly and took time to understand my problems. She was very compassionate and caring. She was excellent with followup. I would recommend her to my freinds and family.
