Dr. Sherwin Kirit Parikh, MD

I have been going to see Dr. Parikh for a few years now. Every time I go I am reminded of why I will not see any other dermatologist even though his Tribeca office is way out of my way, The office is clean and the staff are all very friendly. but most importantly the doctors are knowledgeable and get the job done. I see a few people here have commented on his personality. He caries himself like most other young, intelligent NYC elitists.; if that's off putting to you then you should probably move.

I don't generally need follow up, but he emails with me whenever I have questions. I've been going to him for over ten years and would never want to go anywhere else.

I've been going to Dr. Parikh for years and found him to be fine, not spectacular, but fake pleasant (though always on the douchier side with frequent and obnoxious mentions of having gone to Harvard) but my last visit was a total shock. He was super dismissive, didn't take my skin concerns seriously and saw me for a total of 2 minutes. He even walked out of the room and decided to end the visit while I was still talking! I thought he was going out to quickly to grab something but then I realized he just straight-up left! I was so upset and shocked that I had to see if it was an isolated incident or if other patients have experienced similar issues and it seems like he's been this way with others. Unfortunately I think he's just too focused on making money and only cares about cosmetic procedures. Anything else such as acne, rashes, or eczema he treats you like some untouchable and makes you feel bad about yourself. I'm going to have to seek another dermatologist. I used to refer… many of my friends to him but now I feel so embarrassed that I did because they have also come back to me to complain about how awful he was. You know, the office is very prompt in keeping their appointment times but it's only because Dr. Parikh sees patients for 2 seconds.

Condescending, lacks bedside manner, too hurried, makes you feel like a piece of meat. He enjoys making his patients feel inferior (he shamed me for having gotten an ingrown hair that got infected after shaving my bikini line. He told me, brusquely, rudely, "real men don't do that". Everytime I saw him after he would keep bringing it up even though it had nothing to do with my current visit. (just for the record, I am a model, sometimes we need to shave down there, especially us hairy guys). Anyhow he was reccomended by an equally sinister fashionista, a crowd he seems to cater too. No true medical evaluations, just expensive cosmetic reccomendations. His treatment did just okay for my dark spots (got laser), but I have since found a better doctor who does not charge me for a touch up if the first round failed. My new doctor maintains both a personal and business relationship, is kind, caring, warm and sincere everything a dermo should be, not a snide, careless and insincere jerk.… Additionally, he had an associate who unncessarily catherized a blood spider on my face, something you DO NOT DO for your first treatment (i did not know this at the time). It was some belgian doctor working for him. Anyhow, even Parikh had to fire the guy for incompetence. He should never have been hired in the first place. I would not be surprised if Parikh is up to no good and some scandal about his conduct hits. He reeks of it. Slimey. Run for your skin.

I was considering Accutane, and as a college student, was a bit worried about going six months with a single drop of alcohol. I voiced this concern to him on the couple of occasions I saw him. The last time I saw him, my parents came along just to see what kind of care I was receiving. With absolutely no warning, he demanded of my parents point-blank whether or not they thought I was an alcoholic, while I was sitting right there in front of them. It was one of the most humiliating, excruciating experiences of my life. I suppose he was jumpy because he thought he might get sued. I very much hope that he does get sued. He is irresponsible and cruel.

I'm a doctor's daughter, and my brother and cousin are doctors. I am an acupuncturist, so I'm a primary healthcare practitioner myself. I found Dr. Parikh Sherwin to be a gentleman, intelligent, and thoughtful. I know good doctors from bad, and he was excellent. I highly recommend him. The office is lovely, too, if you prefer a downtown, modern sort of vibe. He has a downtown vibe, too, which is appropriate since that's where his office is!
