Dr. Shiela Ishii Irick, MD

Wife and I attempted to discuss our teenage minor daughter's issues. We kept getting stonewalled by this doctor. We tried then to discuss why she wouldn't consider our inputs as parents, which could present important data for our daughter's case. Irick was agitated and typing on her screen during half of the time when we were speaking to her and merely reiterated the same things. She refused any discussion about our daughter, the case, or even why she was refusing discussion. She began raising her voice at us. She claimed discussion would "break trust" or confidentiality. Again, our daughter was a minor. I also asked which specific code which used as the diagnosis. My wife and I both have experience from the psychiatry field and diagnostic codes. Irick refused that, too, again saying only a vague phrase rather than the code. Then she expressed irritation that we were beyond our allotted 20 minutes.

Dr. Irick worked so well with me while I was still living in her area of care. She got to really know me and could tell when things were changing. She also knew what was helpful for me as well as just how much to give tough love by pushing me toward getting more help when needed.

Dr. Irick is an amazing doctor! I have never had a doctor to give me an A, B & C plan of treatment. She is down to earth and real. She is on top of my medications while being cautious of side effects and over medicating. Dr. Irick should be honored for her skills and performance as a doctor. This sounds like I am just pumping up a doctor into something that is probably unworthy of such praise. However, the statements are true and she deserves even more than I am giving.
