Dr. Shields B Abernathy, MD

Dr. Abernathy and his staff are professional and friendly. The office environment is relaxed and everyone has a great sense of humor. Dr. Abernathy is knowledgeable in his field. He is attentive and caring.

Dr. Abernathy runs his office efficiently with the patient's best care in mind. His staff is helpful and friendly. Dr. A is a great listener and a good communicator. I've seen him for many years and can't recommend him and his staff highly enough!!

I saw Dr. Abernathy after visiting numerous doctors about having BTS. So many prior specialists did not ask questions, offer any real help or show compassion and interest in my situation. Dr. Abernathy was very, very thorough, compassionate, intelligent and actually offered me a med that is helping. I highly recommend this doctor who is the rare combo of wisdom, concern and great kindness

Dr. Abernathy has helped my son for the last 8 years. He has asthma and a peanut allergy. His asthma was immediately stabilized when he was prescribed the proper medications. He is always punctual, humorous and willing to answer all our questions. My son also has autism so he has some communication deficits. This has never prevented us from receiving the quality care and respect that we desire. I wish we could find a decent pediatrician who was this good! Thank you Dr. Abernathy!

I want to be kind because there may be a medical condition that caused the behavior in the Doctor as it was so extreme, I can not imagine any other explanation. I was screamed at (while the Doctor leaned towards me in a very threatening manner), he at times seemed asleep and then again would scream at the top of his lungs. Answers were nonsense and all he seemed certain of was that everyone needed frequent allergy injections at his office. Will never go back and hope that his staff cares enough to see if he has diminished capacity of some sort that is causing his erratic and at times frightening, behavior.

Doc Abernathy is the best Doctor I have ever had. He speaks the plain truth. I wish I was retiring here and could have him as a Doctor till retired!

For some unknown reason, this doctor was hostile and uninterested in providing care for my condition. I think he may be having some dementia problems. My initial visit was unexplainably bizarre. He was over the top aggressive and hostile, with no reason. He made it plain that it would be an involved process to sort out my problems and history of tests. I couldn't wait to get out of his office.

He is has many years of experience and he has a great staff.

Is a very personable and fun loving doctor. Takes a real interest in me, listens to me, jokes with me, and cares well for me. One of a doctor that's around not much more.

My husband and I took are 1 yr old son to see him for some reactions to food and animals he was having. He looked at my husband and said "you know what you have to dad, you have to dig a whole" he was referring to our dog, that my husband had to kill our dog. The whole time we were there he would sit quietly listening and then almost jump out of his chair at us and start yelling. I finally got up with my son and left. This Dr. is one of the worst I have ever seen.
