Dr. Shihab Uddin Ahmed, MD

I have never experienced such poor treatment by a physician in my life. I was looking forward to my appointment as I have been in constant, severe pain for so long. Dr Ahmed said he could not help me from the second he walked in the office. He refused to listen to me and had absolutely no compassion for me. He then proceeded to walk out on me while I was still talking. I now go to St Elizabeth’s Hospital Pain Center in Brighton, MA. They treat me with respect, compassion and did not stop until I had some pain relief. I highly recommend the doctors at St Elizabeth’s Hospital Pain Clinic if anyone is in pain out there.

He needs to stick to writing papers. Doesn't understand he is supposed to be providing care to patients and teaching. He is difficult to talk to to as he is unwilling to listen. He needs to judge you. He forgets we are human and in pain. Bad choice for pain management. Key words: lacks empathy, not a deity.

I have been a patient of Dr Ahmed at least once a year, for more than 5 years, receiving steroid injections into my spine for the pain of spinal stenosis after 3 surgeries, including fixation at L4-L5. I was referred to Dr. Ahmed by my neurosurgeon, Jean Valery Coumains, MD. I have found Dr. Ahmed to be a wonderful combination of clinical expertise and compassion. My steroid injections are complicated by the orientation of the fixation rods and screws. Dr. Ahmed is very patient, considering the optimum injection angle. He is a genuinely nice guy, with the deep respect of his peers and fellows. I recommend him without hesitation.

I will never forget how good it felt to have Dr. Ahmed listen to me sincerely when I first came to the office. My pain had been constant and debilitating for two years with medical treatment. He understood my symptoms and it has meant everything in terms of his treatment approach - I am much better thank God.
