Dr. Shirlene Marie Sampson, MD

My daughter was seen by Dr Sampson and this girl has already been through so much trauma and unfortunately had to endure more through the hands of this Dr. She literally put in her report words that were untrue and more than abusive. We have yet to have her change it. I’ve called Mayo more times in the last month than I have in my entire life and I have yet to have resolution!! I would never recommend this Dr., EVER and if you are scheduled to see her, I suggest you ask for someone else!!!!

While there is no doubt in her pedigree (and she lets you know it) she has the worst interpersonal skills I have even encountered in the medical profession (or in service related industries of any sort). Not only is she short and curt, but frequently talks over the top of you, tends to be condescending when speaking and rarely takes the time to listen. Her approach is so far at odds with that of the Mayo Clinic, it defies logic that she could be working there. So very disappointing. I would avoid seeing her at all costs.

I am writing this from my hotel room in Rochester as I prepare to leave after a 2 week visit to the Mayo Clinic. My experience with Dr. Sampson was horrific. I saw her once. She told me that I do not have ADHD. I have been diagnosed with severe ADHD by three top ADHD psychiatrists that I have severe ADHD. She said I take too many drugs then suggested an anti-psychotic. When I tried to explain things she said "stop taking."

An okay, knowledgeable doctor. I have seen plenty of doctors (neurologists, GI, etc) and they are all always very courteous etc at Mayo. However, Dr. Sampson is, while I'm sorry to say it, by far not one of the best doctors I've seen. She seems negative, arrogant, and demanding as if the patient's opinion doesn't matter. Despite that, I will continue to see her because I like 'projects' (IE, fix her attitude). My guess is, she's arrogant because she works for Mayo; so she thinks she's top notch. The staff on the other hand, is awesome as usual.
