Dr. Shirley Sostre-Oquendo

Dr. Sostre-Oquendo is truly amazing. She is extremely knowledgeable in the field. She saved my life on more than one occasion. She is patient and compassionate. At first she is a little rigid, but once you get to know her she is so supportive and caring. She is my biggest cheerleader in my own success. Give her a chance, it takes more than one session to get to know a doctor. Be open to hearing things you don't want to hear. Dr. Sostre-Oquedo tells it like it is, she doesn't sugar coat anything. But that's sometimes what people need to hear. I highly recommend Dr. Shirley Sostre-Oquendo.

Based on my personal opinion doctor is unable to diagnose based on reports of sypmtoms by the patient. Patient history included only hearsay by a division employee and patients hospital records a couple times. She was unable to communte a full 45 mins to a hour with patient and basically said you been in hospital so you need medications it was a very short evaluation. She failed to look furtger into causes of hospitalizations, family history, trauma and never asked any questions about trauma. As a result she claimed that a patient with a long history of domestic violence and chold abuse done to her was her fault and that she hallucinated as per the dianosed criticeria of the label she described. She also claimed that any moods patient experienced was not due to pregnancy a vitamin defiancy orecomy other but a mood disorder without outweighing other possible reasons. She was very judgemental and unable to make her own opinion based on her own educational and experiences expertise. I… would not recommend her, espeacilly if someone has hurt you in the past, she is not compassionate and lacks empath and is to easy to suggest medications to benefit her own pocket and other practice guarantees.
