Dr. Shishin Miyagi, MD

I had Dr. Shishin Miyagi as my doctor for 8 years (2013-2021) at the Guam SDA Clinic in Tamuning. I was injured in 1992 in a bus collision, which broke my driver's seat off its hinges. I was also driving a full-sized 72-passanger school bus. I went to the hospital, but they took x-rays and said nothing was broken. They weren't trained to notice that my neck was permanently misaligned, which abnormal alignment deteriorated into Cervical Degenerative Disk Disease in 2004. Then I fell down a 15' mail slide at work in 2005, which worsened my injury, leaving me with radiating pain in both arms. I met with Dr. Miyagi monthly for pain medications, and other related necessary drugs. I should have posted this negative review years ago, but now is as good a time as any. It took me years to recover from his long term emotional abuse. He is one of the worst doctors I ever had. I had complained dozens of times over the years about Dr. Miyagi to the clinic's Medical Director, but he did nothing. It… wasn't until I had had enough of his verbal abuse and I complained to the front office that Rose cared enough to take action. In early 2021 I was given a new doctor, Dr. Timothy Arnott, who is the best doctor I ever had. I miss him. But Dr. Miyagi is bad news! The SDA Guam Clinic ultimately gave me a different doctor, after I repeatedly complained about Dr. Miyagi's consistent abusive nature. The insurance company wanted a drug compliance test. Dr. Miyagi didn't know why my test came back negative. At home, I went on the internet and in less than a minute learned that there is a separate test for the particular pain drug I was taking. I shared the information with Dr. Miyagi, but he didn't bother to thank me for doing his job. A standard drug test will come back negative, you must do a separate test to check for compliance to see if the patient is taking that particular drug. When I turned age 50 and lost 70 pounds in early 2017, Dr. Miyagi praised me all the way down; but when I started losing the battle and regained all of my weight in 2019, he criticized me every step of the way, literally making a grown man cry in one appointment. I told the nurse, Pat, "He has no right to talk to me that way." I felt terrible from Dr. Miyagi belittling me instead of encouraging and helping me. You'd think if anyone on the planet would understand the struggle, difficulty and battle of losing weight and keeping it off, it would be a medical doctor. He should have showed me compassion and a proper diet to eat, but he didn't. He just repeatedly said, "You need to watch your weight" to make me feel bad, and I did because of him. Dr. Miyagi has zero bedside manners! In 2017 he asked me to share my story with other patients how I lost 70 pounds in 4 months. I gladly accepted his invitation. I mentioned in the speech to a group of about two dozen other SDA Guam Clinic patients that several years ago I was depressed because of my old 1992 neck injury, and the 15' fall at work in 2005), which accidents still cause me constant agonizing neck pain and tension, numbness in my left leg, radiating pain down both arms and my right leg, poor balance, and overwhelming burning nerves throughout my upper body. I also mentioned in the meeting that several years ago I used to sleep 15 hours a day because I was depressed, which my multiple prescription medications helped me to do. Dr. Miyagi insensitively and coldly criticized my weight gain in 2021, which prompted me to complain to the front office. Thank God they finally gave me a different doctor. Dr. Miyagi was abusive! He inappropriately asked me at my appointments what I did at home all day, since I am on permanent disability; but that is none of his business and he was very wrong to ask me such intrusive personal questions. The guy has issues and in my opinion is a bad doctor. When I lost 70 pounds, Dr. Miyagi reduced the amount of my pain medication I was taking, but when I regained all my weight he refused to rest

My son saw Shishin Miyagi for an annual physical that the doctor rushed thru in 15 mins. He ignored reported symptoms.
