Dr. Shital Suryakant Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is an amazing doctor. She listens to my concerns and has always been spot on with my care. Her staff are wonderful from the receptionist to the nurses and lab technician. Everyone treats me as they would their own family. I don't feel like a patient here; they really care about me and my healthcare.

Patel is a person of color and has these traits which are common of some people of color. Temperamental and irrational. When I went to her for pneumonia she asked why I came to see her in a hateful mean tone. I went to the emergency room because I was wheezing and needed breathing treatment. I have never been treated so badly in my entire life. The medical community does not need people like her and she needs to be Dismissed. She is not compassionate at all. not thorough either

Dr. Patel was rude, condescending and dismissive of me. I am a chronic migraine and pain sufferer. She told me that my pain is psychosomatic and there was “nothing wrong” with me. She actually asked my husband (who I asked to come with me on a return trip because she had made me feel so insecure about talking about my health) to stop bringing me in and recommended to him that I seek therapy for depression. I ended up seeking another PCP and now also have a neurologist and rheumatologist assisting with my care. I would not recommend her to anyone unless they have the common cold.

This is not someone I would consider a Dr really -- she is a Referral Specialist -- on my first visit and expression of limited income she still tried to send me to about 5 specialist for condition diagnosed and maintained well for 10 years. As a person with a chronic pain disorder I was horrified by her lack of compassion or empathy. She openly speaks to absolutely not perscribing Benzos or Pain meds -yet also refuses non narcotic meds- but suggested at least 5 anti depressants - Depression is not my diagnosis. Most people need a DR that is adept at patient CARE -- not one that wishes to refer you to specialist after specialist to avoid reviewing your previous health records that contain documented diagnosis. I also didn't appreciate the sales pitch that ObamaCare would solve all my health care woes

First off going to this doctor's office is like going through TSA at the airport. I'm actually surprised I didn't receive a cavity search. Upon my initial visit with Dr. Patel I have to say she has the worst bedside manner I have ever seen in a physician. Whenever I tried to answer a question or ask about something that was of concern to me she would cut me off mid-sentence. As a patient I felt I could not confide or communicate my fears in regards to my health. She just sat at her laptop with no real eye contact or care for my reason for being there. I felt she was rude and unsympathetic to my situation and in no way is what a physician should represent. Forget about having a doctor-patient relationship with this physician. I suggest if you want a doctor that is caring and sensitive to your health concerns look else where.

An outstanding diagnostician and great communicator. As a member of the medical field I am leery of allowing just anyone treat me. Dr. Shital S. Patel made everything a collaborative effort and did not allow her ego to interfere with sound clinical judgment. She will be missed in Houston.
