Dr. Shiva Kermanshi was born and raised in Tehran, Iran and moved to California with her family after she graduated from high school. After she earned her Associate Degree from Santa Monica College, she attended UCLA where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with Suma Cum Laude honors. She then moved to Boston where she received her degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University with Magna Cum Laude honors.While in Boston, she volunteered her services annually for the physically and mentally challenged children through the Special Olympics, Special Smiles Program. Dr. Kermanshi was also involved in services pertaining to under privileged youth through the Outreach Van Project.Dr. Kermanshi earned her degree in Orthodontics from Howard University in Washington, DC, achieving the highest academic average amongst her colleagues during her postgraduate study. Her two-year specialty residency included advanced education in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, early …treatment for children, adult orthodontics, Invisalign certification, and orthodontics for patients undergoing orthognatic surgery. Dr. Kermanshi is a member of Alexandria Dental Society, Northern Virginia Dental Association, Virginia Dental Society, American Dental Association, Middle Atlantic Society of orthodontists, DC Society of orthodontists, and American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Kermanshi prides herself in providing the highest quality of care in the most gentle and efficient manner possible. She has been practicing orthodontics for over ten years and has had the privilege of treating a diverse patient population at any age group.She embraces challenge as an opportunity to excel herself in her practice and give her patients a beautiful smile. She has also volunteered her services to children pro bono, and has treated many physically and mentally-challenged children. In her free time, Dr. Kermanshi enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, hiking, writing poetry, and reading children’s stories to her son and daughter.
