Dr. Shivani Katyal, MD

I found Dr. Shivani Katyal to be one of the best primary care physicians I've experienced. Dr. Katyal was interested in my health in a comprehensive manner and was very thorough with my health history and had wonderful insights.

I (age 51) needed a GP & Polyclinic assigned her to me. She was professional and seemed up to date with preventative care for older men. She was also funny and put me at ease, which I appreciated.

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Katyal. She was condescending and rude. She kept insisting that I was on various medications, and treated me like was incompetent when I said I was not. When I noticed that it was not my record she was looking at, she left room without any apology. She prescribed an inhaler for me because she heard "wheezing" in my lungs and sent me for xrays (lungs were clear). Her tone and language when she told me I was "very over weight, in fact obese" was more than rude. And she also insisted that I had sleep apnea because I was having trouble sleeping. When I explained that it was not apnea, but due to the chronic pain in my hip (I was scheduled for surgery in two weeks), she stated that she "didn't understand what that had to do with it". I also had a UTI at the time that was waking me for frequent bathroom visits. I have since had people calling for me to schedule a sleep study per her diagnosis, and apparently this is now in my permanent… records. Needless to say, I will not be going back to her, and do not recommend her.
