Any doctor can run a series of tests and figure out what's wrong with you. What makes a doctor good is his bedside manner and his willingness to listen to you and figure out the underlying issues. The doctor, the day we visited, was fairly abrupt and at that time had a poor bedside manner. However this was not the worst part of it. It was his staff that drove us away. It was their unwillingness to adjust our appointment 20 minutes because we got caught in a traffic jam due to an accident. I called and asked if they would see us 20 minutes later and was told NO, you have to reschedule. How many times have you sat in a doctor's office and waited 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 1/2 hour, even an hour for the doctor to see you? The staff that day was completely unwilling to put someone ahead of us and then adjust our appointment by 20 minutes. Completely unacceptable and we will not be returning.

The receptionist is abrupt and none caring. Bit of an attitude. The nurse is okay. The staff overall seem to hate their job. Dr U himself is good but the staff can turn one away.

I went to the office in Riverview, FL to drop off lab results, the receptionist was very rude. The entire time I spent talking to her seemed like an inconvenience to her; she had no interest in being helpful. Her attitude was unprofessional, she clearly did not know much about the job was tasked to perform, and she simply did not care -- either for the job or the patients. Why someone like that is given a position in a physician's office is beyond me. I firmly believe that if you're working in any healthcare capacity, certain qualities must be apparent: caring, compassionate, and a helpful attitude. The physician could be outstanding but if the first face one encounters in the office is unhelpful and uncaring, this would be a deterrent from visiting that office.

I am 60 yrs old and Dr. U is the best MD I'vev ever met. He is knowledable of course, and he shares that knowledge with great care for understanding what he is saying.I highly recommend Dr. U to anyone with kidney disease.
